i want to listen to my ipod in the car, instead of cds.

ive got a Clarion VRX633R in my car.

i havent got a clue how it would pull out of the fascia, to connect any cables, so if i had to that i reckon itd have to go in to halfords 🙁

i tried one of those fm receivers, and thought they were crap. any advice as to what i need? id like to just be able to get into car, put ipod into a cradle, set to 'shuffle' and then wind the window down, elbow out, shades on, looking cool as, with the dulcet tones of nick cave sending everyone in the high st suicidal 🙂

advice please 🙂

You need to go to an ICE shop and let them help you. It will involve new inter connect on the rear, or could take the feed from the radio jack on the back of the stereo.

I have no clue about lincoln, but I would suggest there are beter options than H. Why not google the clarion model with ipod and see what happens.

These chaps have always been helpful to me in the past.

word of caution, buy the right tools to get your stereo out of the car, as spoons and knives were designed for other purposes like unscrewing plugs and stuff

I used the CD changer socket (IP-BUS-ICA?) on the back of my Pioneer.

Found a suitable 3.5mm lead off ebay and drilled a hole into the glove box through which I run the cable. The glove box will still close over the cable.

Bit of a botch, but cost me about £3 for the cable (ebay)

I got my ICE cable by finding the one I wanted and then going to halfords and showing them the online advert, they price matched there and then. Took me about an hour really taking my time to fit it in my Honda Accord. Dead easy.

Some words of warning though. ICE cables don't do shuffle. If your stereo does shuffle you're fine but once the device is plugged into the ICE cable, it's controlled by the stereo which treats it like a CD changer. You have to create playlists for the stereo to play what you want but if you have a random button on the stereo that should do it.

Also, my cable doesn't charge my ipod touch (although it charged my classic fine), things may have changed but be warned.

Look on youtube for videos on putting the cable in to your car/stereo

Got one fitted in ours that will allow shuffle, it plugs into the cd stacker socket. Got ours done at a place near Sheffield

Theres a place on EBAy selling the Harmann kardon car kit that you get a remote twirly stick to change settings, and a dinky little screen.. a faff to install but really rather nice when done. Going for around £20 as nobody wnats the black and white screen anymore!

But not I've reverted to 'rat car' ing, I'm just using a 99p tape adaptor off Ebay with a Shuffle, not big not clever but it works well enough for the drive into work
