My on one merino jacket is dying a death after many years of abuse.

What's a decent recommendation for a sensible spring/autumn jacket for a short commute that isn't >£100?

My spring / autumn commute jacket is an Alpkit Heiko, often in their sales for about £70 IIRC.

Although it's so warm right now, just a pertex shell is enough.

Using a galibier mistral, good bit of kit, heavier than merino though

I was very nearly tempted by the DHB Hooded Softshell on CRC/Wiggle at the moment for £54 but was told I had enough cycling clothing and jackets already. (So I bought their thermal jersey instead which will probably do in combination with existing layers).

I have a large night vision evo I never use, worn probably five times.

It’s red, has a small tear by rear pocket. £40?

I tried softshells but generally too warm. A thermal jersey and pertex shell works best for me, with some kind of Base Layer depending on temperature, from synthetic t-shirt for mild conditions to heavy merino when baltic.

I just bought a Decathlon one, good quality and way below the cost of similar items.
