Not really wanting to say anything meaningful in this post (as ever) except that I can't for a moment understand why the other Beach Boys (not Brian) couldn't see that "Surf's Up" was 100% about how Brian (and Van Dyke) felt about them, the band, his position in the world, and where he saw them all headed.
And it is, IMO, just a perfectly sublime, if thats not oxymoronic, song that continues to amaze me.
Anyway.
