One of them flew into a room I was working in and hit the wall near me.

t'is a mayfly... or cockcafer as this thread has taught me.
Fricken stupid bugs, usually loads about, but I didn't see many last year (IIRC it wasn't even May when I did see them), not seen any so far any this year

A Mayfly is a different beastie. It an aquatic insect wot fly fishy folk copy to catch fishies.
Cockchafers are cool. As long as they don’t get down ya pants.

They have a 5 year life cycle, as flying bugs they only live a few days. So, you won’t see them every year.
