We had a close pass last week going round a blind left hand bend which I complained to the bus company about. Just wanted to share the response from them as it was good to see them properly follow up.

The company was stagecoach.

___
Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention and I apologise that our driver's behaviour has caused you concern

Upon viewing the CCTV from the bus, I can clearly see that the driver has passed you and your son very closely whilst going around a bend. I will be formally seeing the driver for his behaviour here as this is completely unacceptable. We will also consider offering re-training to the driver to bring him back in line with our company values.
Please let me apologise again for any distress this incident may have caused and rest assured that the driver will be dealt with.

Kind regards

Better than I expected. I got a "sorry we don't know who was driving our bus" from my local bus company.. Oh really?!

I've had good responses from bus companies on the 2 or 3 times I've reported them.
Except Starbus, who pretended they couldn't tell who it was on a particular route at a precise time.

Same happened to my mate on the way to work as a dentist 😕 later on the chief executive of the bus company was sat having a filling! When he told him about it the CEO reviewed the footage personally and it resulted in a bollocking and re-training for the driver... must be 12 years ago

Yeah, I got a punishment pass by the driver of a crew bus of builders who about ten minutes later when I was pulled up at lights drove up behind me and banged me forward 6 inches. I emailed his MD who turned out to be a keen cyclist. He spoke to the driver who got abusive about cyclists only to find his boss was a keen cyclist along with his family.
He was laid off work unpaid until he had done a driving improvement course at his own expense.

My cousin is fairly senior in stagecoach. Busses hitting people is unfortunately very common and takes up a great d deal of his time

That sounds sarcy. It's not. Genuine well done for trying to bring the standards up.

Cheers

Hey Pook, I noticed on the Sheffield thread you must live near me somewhere...

Last week I witnessed the 83A do exactly what you described on Hallamshire Road at the top of Slayleigh Lane. I also reported it to Stagecoach and got an apology and a promise that they would investigate.

This was 6 October I think... would be quite a bizarre coincidence if it was you I witnessed?!

It was horrible - I was all set to dial 999.

Glad to hear you are both ok - I’ll watch out for you again on the school run!

Was it that bad from where you were? I felt I could have cleaned his windows with my elbow!

First time I’ve ever felt compelled to report someone, so must have been pretty bad! I was on Hallamshire Road walking away from school. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when he went to pull out around you

Amazon Prime are the worst I have come across while out riding. No response from them to complaints at all. I did query whether a full UK license was a requirement for their drivers. I suppose the poor sods are on a timed run with gps tracking.
Unfortunately/fortunately I don't have a GoPro so not able to post their abysmal driving.

Perhaps I should buy one but not from Amazon though.

Good result.

Last time I did that (was forced into a kerb) I was thanked for my report and advised they couldn't tell me any outcome due to data protection.

Good job on reporting it.
Myself and a friend were buzzed very closely at about 50 mph on a fast stretch of road by a stagecoach bus a couple of years back. I was absolutely fuming and then realised he would be held up at the next village. So set off in pursuit. Filtered through the traffic and then came up on a police van so asked the 2 police women to have a polite word instead of me loosing it with him.
They pulled him over with blues and gave him a bollocking in front of all the passengers. Hopefully shamed into not doing it again.
