Who is good nowadays? Carol Nash used to be the go to

the mighty BSA roared for the first time for more than a decade today. Looking forward to riding it again. 1961 which means I think it still needs an MOT but no tax

No MOT required, but it’s a good idea to have somebody do one as a safety check - did you replace the inner tubes/tyres? Good plan if you can, Carole Nash still fine , they are all brokers , the prices will be similar.
From an owner of older and only slightly newer classics

Mighty fine looking machine there ...

DVLA
You do not need to get an MOT if: the vehicle was built or first registered more than 40 years ago. no 'substantial changes' have been made to the vehicle in the last 30 years, for example replacing the chassis, body, axles or engine to change the way the vehicle works.

Have used Carol Nash and Footman James but Bennett’s last time did a collective deal that was great for four bikes 1951-1979 AJS500, Bullet 350, R65 and R100 for two riders one old and one 21 - not sure it would be repeatable..

Yup no MOT required, it's still a good idea though. Although motorbikes are a bit easier to spot faults on than a car so YMMV.

Tidy up that (clutch?) cable!

I think thats a speedo cable. Must be a reason why its like that 🙂 . tyres are OK - they are 20 years old not 40 and not cracked. Tubes could do with changing I guess. Sorting out the fuel leaks is a higher priority and I don't think there is anything left inside the "silencer"

I'll take it to the sympathetic MOT bods anyway for them to give it a once over.

I stink of petrol now - its been a while!

Worth giving Bennets a try too, not a fan of Carol Nash after they tried to diddle me after a non fault claim.
