According to the revised rules for 2012, she didn't actually complete The London Marathon... whatever.

It was taking her around an hour to walk each mile. Hats off to her.

Just watched her come in on Channel 4 news. Amazing. Lends everything a certain sense of perspective eh?

Awesome. Hats off to her, and to those who donated their finishing medals after Pinsent asked for some on twitter.

What was the thread about living legends? There you have one huge legend. Wish i had half of her courage

Definition of "marathon",

"any contest, event, or the like, of great, or greater than normal, length or duration or requiring exceptional endurance"

An outstanding performance and raising funds by Claire.

Epic fail by the London Marathon organisers as she has achieved much much more than any of the other participants at a huge personal sacrifice.

Whilst I am here my deepest sympathies to the family of Claire Squires incase anyone thinks I am overlooking that personal tragedy.

To be fair, Virgin did present her with the Virgin Trophy - which is reserved for people who complete special feats of endurance. And Branson did tweet his congratulations to her. (I'm not going to be cynical on this thread ๐Ÿ™‚ )

I heard she received a trophy which wasn't elaborated on. So I take soem of it back, however surely she could have a medal and a trophy.

Agreed not the place to be cynical, simply a huge and heroic performance in my eyes.
