I didn't work a full year last year so hopefully the government owes me a bit from my PAYE. I know we're all in this together, every little helps, etc, but I'd quite like it back.
Tried to phone the local tax office and there is an automated message saying they aren't taking phone calls. Tried looking for help here (P50 help clicky), downloaded the form but it doesn't say where to send it. It looks like it should already be partly filled out and sent to me before I add my info. Anyone know what to do?
EDIT might be on to something here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/stop-work-refund.htm, looks promising
Have you tried going to the tax office rather than calling?
I think the government owes me a tax refund this year too ๐
If you didn't work then what PAYE have you paid to be able to claim back?
i think he means he worked but didnt work for the full year, last year
as opposed to
not working at all last year
I was in a similar boat last year, I just wrote to my tax office, enclosing a copy of my P45 and my calculations of what I thought I was owed. They sent me a cheque.
