Thought i'd treat myself as spotted the pair i want in a winter sale on line for a good price.
However, as i'm buying online i can't try them on until they are delivered. I'd like to cut out the faff of returning them by getting the right size first time.
So how do they size up? My shoes range from 10-11 all medium fit

Cheers

Well in terms of leather shoes made in Northampton; I've 3 pairs of loake's 2 are size 8, but the trapper boots I have are a 7.5 but are a wider fitting than my other shoes, a pair of John White Chelsea boots also in an 8 and my Church's brouge's are also 8. If I was ordering a pair on line, unless they were a 'wacky' design I'd be sticking with a 8 HTH 🙂

Oh no, no whacky design. A classic brogue, Brisbane is the model

Enter your size and fit in the red sale section

Still not as cheap as the outlet store at Bicester but at least they have a good selection

I understand I am a bit late! I take a 10/10.5 in a 'normal shoe'. I take anything between a 9.5 G and 10.5 F in Chruch's depending on the last used. They do vary a lot and I have a lot of pairs! They are indeed lovely shoes. Unfortunately though for you, the only way to get it right is to try a few. You'll know when you find the right size Cinderella! But I would definitely advise against buying online unless you absolutely know from a past pair that not only the size but the last used is the same. The last makes a big difference as they do differ a lot in terms of height, instep, width etc. Some suit certain feet better than others.

Not to worry. Herrings are great at taking returns if they aren't right. This was a very expensive thread. After you asked I went and order 2 pairs myself! They do have a much better selection than the Church's stores sale or the risk that is the Bicester Village outlet, where quite often the shoes are seconds anyway. At least Herrings are first quality. Let's hope the risk pays off. Only trouble, if they fit, you'll never want any other brand again. This could be start of a long and expensive relationship!

I normally go for more 'fashion' brands such as Paul Smith, Boss, Prada etc. I fancied something a little more classic this time so thought I'd finally try Church's...I hope it does become a long relationship!

If it helps the loakes 8's I have are both F fitting, and my Church Grafton's are also F. I ordered my Church's online so took the punt and they fitted grand. Whilst I have the cash to visit my local Loake's dealer and try things on, I'm a little shy of doing the same with Church's. 8)

Mine too! Both the same size and the same last. 1 fits like a glove, 1 like a boat! Go figure!

Blimey!

It's my birthday next month so may treat myself to another pair then, though I'll go along to Herrings store in Ross

Tails my mum brought me a pair of those slippers in red cost £5 never worn them. Got two pairs of Church's shoes very nice they are but can't wear them at the moment due to a foot problem.

My mum use to work for Church's and they were seconds. Church's shoes only have to have the tinniest mark and the go for seconds. One pair of shoes i couldn't even see the mark till it was pointed out though the other pair were ahem brand new but classed as seconds 😉
