@kayak23 nope, going surfing. Although the thought of a riding holiday there is very tempting. I have been looking at Freeride Morocco but also MTB Beds in Finale.

@drac it works out lovely thanks. A week away then back to work for a couple of weeks then Christmas. It feels like a fortnight of festive build up, rather than two months. Which is about right IMHO. It's not that I dislike Christmas, but it seems to go on forever which actually spoils it.

Freeride Morocco

Is that the guided week across the Atlas mountains camping in village huts each night?   If so I’m very jealous as it’s been on my bucket list for years.  One day when I have more flexibility I’ll be doing that.

Yetcan****rightorf with it and all the trimming, joviality and bollocks.
Same with new year.
Commercialism personified for maximum profit.
If I want to buy someone a present - I will. When I want to.
NOT When a bunch of marketing tossers say it’s the correct time to do so.
Bah **** hum***bug

I **** love Christmas!

Best day of the year, with the people I love.

Bring it.

Exactly this. The commercial aspect is easily avoided.

I love the run up to christmas but never let it start till a week or so before, it's surely easy to just ignore, starts with black eye friday, then decorating a tree out in the wilds that weve been doing for 8 years now I think. I just love the whole time at home with my tribe. This year I've however said we are not being dragged all over the country for the whole 10 days off. We're going selfish and doing we want to do, christmas dinner at mums then boxing day at the outlaws which is exactly how we wanted it.

What about necrophiliacs?

THey tend to celebrate Boxing Day most as they prefer their meat cold.

You didn’t need to get caught up in the hype but also Kids invigorate Christmas IMO.  It their excitement around the whole thing that makes it for me.

Very true. Kids do a wonderful job of distracting us from the fact that it's essentially a massive advertising assault on us.... 😉

Vote Labour or the Dems, getting rid of Christmas is on the agenda i hear through the grapevine, in favour of a more inclusive celebration.

"The grapevine" being the Daily Express, one would imagine. Interesting but unsurprising to see they've replaced "Muslims" with "Labour" this year, I suppose passive racism is an improvement on overt racism so that's something at least.

There's enough to make "fury erupt" these days without making up utter bollocks.

But seriously, is the idea that far fetched?

WTAF are you talking about???

Shane you feel like that, I absolutely love Christmas. Get the aversion to the rampant consumerism, but I'd just ignore it if it bothers you . Always a great period for me spending time with all of my family. Feel for those guys working - hope you still get time to enjoy it.

Just watched Elf with my youngest, got a pressie's whats app group running with my 3 girls, already got my tree ordered.

I get the commercial objections and I've probably spent 18 out of the last 25 xmas days working at least part of the day or night in one of several a&e's. But why fight inevitability, it happens every years and I decided I might as well love it, and now I do every year.

Has someone confused this with labour saying
They didn’t want a pre Christmas election?

I think someone has confused humour with reality.

Is this your first pre-xmas build up on STW?

Picked the wife up from work today, I glided through the entire christmas section (now 30 % of the entire garden centre building) without once singing a christmas Carol or feeling I needed to waste a load if money. Think some folk just need to readjust their priorities.

i needed a rake yesterday, needed it fast, so popped into the local garden centre to grab one.

nah mate. anything remotely gardeny has been packed away for 3 months while they deal with the hordes of people already dithering about gawping at twinkly lights and 5 quid baubles!

not a hater tho, the opposite in fact - just not ready for it YET.

You lot can't separate the real meaning of Christmas from all the commercial bullshit.

The real meaning (for me) is 'hey, it's cold and dark lets have a pissup and eat loads with family and friends'. You can't complain about that. Just ignore everything else. Don't be a slave to society, be your own person.
