Just a quickie, I hardly ever use my credit card and I've forgotten its PIN. Am I likely to be able to use it for deposit purposes to hire a car with? (They pretty much all say "valid credit card, NOT a debit card, NOT a pre-pay credit card"
I'll use another card to pay with, but can they just take a swipe of the cc and a signature for the deposit? (I know the obvious answer is ask them, but chappy on the phone won't be able to tell me what Luigi on the desk is likely to feel like doing, and they're probably closed)

It will be fine mate, used to work in Italy sometimes and everytime I went hired a car.
You will be able to sign the slip or pay by debit card (they wont know the difference)
Alternatively most credit card companies have a way to access your pin number either online or over the phone
