MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Mini geologist is now just over 4 and ready to fit into a booster sear. There's alot of options, do you go for a high back with a harness, a high back without a harness, or just one of the booster pad sort of things? Im confused. Theres such a difference in price too, a high back without a harness goes from 30 quid upto 400 quid!
Any experiences or recommendations please.
Cheers
really depends on their size and what is comfy for them. Also factor in type of car, ease of entry, safety zones. You want best compromise of safety and comfort/access. At 4, ours were in high back ones which used normal seat belts, rather than 5 point harnesses. By 5/6 they were on simple boosters, and by 6/7 or 135cm plus they were out of them
Booster with a back, here. Talk to someone in a shop, they'll generally know.
legally a group 2 / 3 booster seat (no back) that uses the normal seat is all that you require.
However in a stunning case of "no sh*t sherlock" a high back seat is recommended as it gives more protection - specifically side impact.
little mr and little miss trb are in high back seats that use the normal 3 point car seatbelts - 5 point harnesses were deemed far to much faff and considered a bit paranoid by me, especially as the kids like to so their own seatbelts
They both also have booster seats (just the base) in the 2nd car for short trips.
Cheers, I guess like the baby seats, its just seeing whats comfy and works for the budget you have
booster seat thing with removal back is the best of both worlds IME
We had a booster seat at first for young MasterG. We soon ditched it because when he nodded off, he slipped off the seat. We replaced it with an iso-fix high back jobbie that cost a fortune. But he's secure and comfortable now.
