Hello looking at child car seats in the sales - have identified the two below. Anyone got any reccomendations for alternatives or experience of using them? Little one is 10 months and has started getting distressed on long journeys as he cant see anything - we have got him a mirror but it doesnt seem work and has got to the point where he seems to dread car journeys (or starts crying as soon as we put him in his car seat). His legs also are pushing against the back of hte seat in the current rear facing seat so doesnt seem enough room anymore to stretch his legs.

We were in the same position at the start of November and got a cheapy one from Kiddicare as they all seemed much the same. He's much happier looking forward and being able to stretch his legs but journeys over 90 mins are still hard work. As he's sitting quite upright his head can slump forward when he sleeps giving him a stiff neck and we have a little pillow so he's not quite so angry when he wakes up. Maybe some of the more expensive ones allow the seat to recline.

Read the new regs on child car seats
Recommended to keep them rear facing for much longer
Science behind it makes sense to me, ie weak neck head heavy leads to neck injuries in a crash
We bought a dvd player which helps or get a mount for a tablet and download stuff onto it

backinireland - cheers was just about to post the same link. We arent going to move him yet as he is ok on short journeys and we only have one long journey to do before he is one but makes sense to get the seat now

I'd be keen to keep them fancying backwards as long as possible. We kept lesbijoupotato in his rear facing seat until practically 18 mths ( once his head got above the top of the cushion we moved him on. Went for a cybex Juno forward facing one.

They need ( in my opinion! To be kept rear facing as long as possible until they are much stronger)

Les G potato.

We recently bought a britax dualfit for our 9 month old.
The original 'from birth' car seat was starting to look a little cramped and uncomfortable so we bought the dualfit - particularly for longer journeys.
The benefit of it is it rotates so you don't have to break your back putting them in and out.
I think it's recommended 0-4 years (0-18kg).
Ended up getting it ft halfords - was the cheapest place using 10% BC discount.

I'll echo the previous comments that current regs say to keep the baby rear facing longer.

+1 on the Britax Dualfit.

Excellent piece of kit albeit expensive - The swivel function makes it sooooooo much easier to get nipper in and out.
