Does anyone know how long it takes for the value of a cheque to appear and be spendable in my account?
Cheque put into one of their paying in machines at 9:30 Monday morning.
Looking to go buy a new shiny with an insurance payout 🙂
(Can't get internet banking at work, and cash machine is a long way away 🙁 )
Usually 5 working days depending on accounts (ie if it's HSBC cheque to HSBC account it could be 3 days)
Bugger. It was a natwest cheque, so that won't help speed things up.
I need a new bike, I'm going nuts commuting on the bus!
Don't spend it for at least 3 days. Cheques appear in my HSBC account in the same day as i pay them in, but don't spend them for at least 3 days unless you have balance available to cover the value of the cheque, otherwise you may get charged.
I did get charged for this the other week but managed to get the money back; due to me suggesting to them that it wasn't good practice for showing the money in my account (not in pending) and not allowing me to spend the money.
3-5 working days if it's not an 'own brand' cheque
Can you not pay for the new bike by cheque? By the time your cheque goes to clear your original cheque will have cashed.
