Having cheese and beans on toast. Do I make beans on toast with cheese on top or cheese on toast with beans on top?

Beans first. Easier to manage the meltyness of your cheese that way.

You lot know nothing 😉 toast well done and allowed to go cold, thickly spread butter, then beans that have simmered a long time then cheese and lashings of Lea & Perrins.

As Mr Punch would say "Thats the way to do it"

You're all wrong.

Four slices of toast, each with a fried egg on top, followed by beans, then cheese.

Roast chicken, ham, cheese and fried egg, sandwiched between 2 thick slices of cooled toast, then completely covered in grated cheese, L&P sauce and grilled until crispy. Allow to cool, then repeat cheese meling on other side.

I have no idea what that would taste like.

Cheese first shirly? That way the cheese melts into a lovely melty, beany mess on the toast, coincidentally providing a small measure of waterproofing against bean juice for the toast.

One or the other.
With bacon.

Bacon & beans on toast is a work of art.
As is the cheese & bacon toastie.

Beans and cheese is an odd choice.

Lightly toasted in a toaster, then red onion with (thin) slices of cheese on top, in the grill so it melts. Beans with pickle stirred in on top of that, then a poached egg.

😆

I think any more irrelevant cookery suggestions would be spurious at this point.

It's cheese or beans. Never both! Heathens!

Trust me on this:
Tin of tuna mixed into piping hot beans,
with a healthy pinch of chilli flakes and splash of Worcestershire stirred in,
poured over cold buttered toast (not bread that once met a toaster - proper Toast),
with cheese grated over the top at the last moment - not the standard size grater holes though - the fancy smaller ones that give a finer grating.

Posher that way.

Serve to anyone and prepare to see their upturned nosed faces suddenly fall in love with your immaculacy.

Make sure you heat up the beans in a small frying pan. The best way to get the sauce right.
