Says it all Drac..
GrahamSNot sure what your point is there? Some people don't immediately assume that every single explosion must be a jihadist terrorist attack?
The point is that people who are entrenched in identity politics either on the left or the right will jump through all sorts of hoops to avoid a conclusion that doesn't fit with their narrative/world view or one that furthers that of their "enemy".
TBF JimJams right
I think Neo-Nazis are douchebags whatever they are up to
A recent gas explosion up here was suspected to be a terroirst attack by some, yet it was a gas explosion. So what is your point?
Yep. Same with the car crashing into pedestrians during Eid. Turned out it was just a simple car crash but some people will have walked away with the idea that it was a terrorist attack. 🙁
Is this just not blatant bigotry ?Is this allowed ?
Positively encouraged when it comes to Christianity.
It's what people do.
It's human nature.
I expected better of Corbyn over Venezuela.
I actually, naively, expected better of Trump too.
😐

Again, it's human nature.
Everyone does it and always has done.
Susan Carter syndrome.
But people who attribute universal traits solely to one particular section of humanity need to give their head a wobble.
Peace.
can we call the apologists shitheads too ?
Interestingly Mike Pence appears to have done what Trump couldn't manage.
can we call the apologists shitheads too ?
I think they're traditionally called collaborators...
Interestingly Mike Pence appears to have done what Trump couldn't manage.
I think he sees his in.
Anyway, just a fun video to watch at lunchtime.
2min15sec for those in a hurry.
Yes yes and every time someone blows themselves up at concert full of children screaming Allahu Ackbar it's a gas leak.
Very much the point, it seems that it's perfectly OK to jump to conclusions when the person responsible is easily written off as 'the enemy'
It seems that, following new studies, the situation is still the same in that many people are really stupid.
So it goes...
Can we punch stupid people as well as Nazi's?

I think the venn diagram for that one may be illuminating
Venn diagram required 😀stupid people as well as Nazi's?
aaaaaaarrrrrrgghhhhhh - NINE seconds. Nine bloody seconds 😥
it seems that it's perfectly OK to jump to conclusions when the person responsible is easily written off as 'the enemy'
The guy has been identified, arrested and charged with second degree murder. I'm struggling to see what conclusions are being jumped to here!
Excellent video by the way Jamie.
Chilling how much of that is relevant today. Interesting to see the New York Times and the BBC being shown there as an example of journalists fighting the loss of truth under the nazis.
using just the same language as the not-neo Nazis did
that unquestioning use of 'the Muslim problem' in a national newspaper is quite chilling, isn't it.
It's The Sun. I'm surprised they didn't go with "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Sharia?"
I'm struggling to see what conclusions are being jumped to here!
That he wasn't forced through fear to drive into a bunch of people by helmeted left wing nut jobs chasing him with baseball bats - apparently this is "unverified but seems like a realistic scenario.". I know yeah, it's a massive leap to jump to that conclusion. Where are we on those unverified reports anyway?
ninfan - MemberCan we punch stupid people as well as Nazi's?
I'd be careful what you wish for there, young sympathizer. 😉
A Nazi, a murderer and a ****. Try and justify this in any way, and you're 2/3 of the way to equivalence.
Sorry for the Fail link

Yes and its vile...
Trump has been more explicit in his condemnation, which is of course the right thing to do.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40927089
The cynic in me says that this is in response to Mike Pence's statement, but I hope I'm wrong.
Trump has been more explicit in his condemnation, which is of course the right thing to do.
Still didn't manage to utter the T word.
Take a look at who has been criticising Trump: Orrin Hatch, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio etc. These are not hand wringing lefties
You seem to be unaware of ninfan's definition of "leftie"
Trump has been more explicit in his condemnation, which is of course the right thing to do.
He missed his moment. Which is strange, because any time he wants to criticise somebody or something he doesn't like, he does it very quickly, sometimes even too quickly.
So yeah, if I was a right wing nut job, I'd be pretty happy in the knowledge that he's only been "forced" to condemn me.
Trump's latest statement is just his usual behaviour; saying whatever he thinks will play best right now, and pretending he's been saying the same thing all along. He's belatedly realised that calling for a balanced view of the behaviour of people who are explicitly Nazi was a bad call.
Meanwhile, a week on, he still has not commented on the firebombing of a mosque.

A leader should lead. It's pretty obvious that in this instance his (bigly) hand has been forced to follow. No doubt he'll sack someone for interrupting his round of golf.
I think I'm probably guilty of cultural prejudice here - but the Republicans speaking out against this mostly seem to be Southern Good Ole Boys with Anglo-Saxon heritage.
A lot of the influential names on the alt-right seem to be of continental European herritage who seem to hold a "European" cultural identity - as with the shouty college boy who's been all over the news.
I was also talking to a perfectly intelligent Spanish computer programmer the other night who blamed Churchill for WW2 - because we should have let Germany invade Poland (it was an internal affair for Europe to solve apparently) and he didn't see anything wrong with a bit of good old fashioned nationalism.....
I'm starting to wonder whether an predilection for fascism can be passed on through generations via cultural identity and jistory....it's all unevidenced conjecture though...I'm just starting to sense some kind of pan-European nationalism coming together out of certain blocks in Europe that are ideologically aligned and possibly the same movement that we have seen in the US. Much the same as the phenomena we have seen with ISIS.
dark times my friends.
Ninfan won't be pleased were back to comparing him to Hitler again, were supposed to be past that phase and just calling him a dick or something.

Yeah a lot of the morons attacking mary beard on Twitter, over the BBC daring to show a black roman were banging on about 'northern European' identity- was a lightning rod for racists here and in the USA see also cultural Marxism, blackwashing & a load of other alt-right paranoid gibberish.

You mean immigrants are behind the wave of hating immigrants in the US
The alt -right is a spectacularly weird place
"Unless you're Native American, you came from someplace else."
he will only take real notice when we are not discussing himNinfan won't be pleased were back to comparing him to Hitler again
Truthfully this is what he wants, perhaps even craves, as he is not as dense or hateful as he pretends to be.
This is what I love about racism Kimbers, the Italians were really upset about the French not selling them some major ship building yards because they considered selling them to the Koreans - Italys response...."Why would you sell them to Koreans and not Europeans". Oh well...if you want to be racist Italy....*sarcasm mode ON* you're Southern and therefore not proper Europeans. Too much Moorish blood to sell shipyards to you.
Idiots.
What an extraordinary obsession with ninfan on here - is jambas away?

Really, it's exactly the same social and psychological phenomena that radicalises young Muslims. Country with a perceived alien or rapidly changing culture different to their own, that for whatever reason makes them feel isolated.
Emphasis on perceived, as reality can be quite different from peoples perceptions.

Oh for the days of an thoughtful, intelligent, erudite man in the white house. More sense in that one speech than Trump has uttered in the whole of his life.
