On another sunny Wednesday where I can't go outside and ride due to working - boo! - I am wondering if anyone has had a midlife change of career.
What did you go from and too and has it worked out?
Currently I am a teacher and while I love the teaching side and the holidays (naturally) I can't help feel that I am always wishing my life away waiting for the breaks. Also it just feels that at the moment teaching is becoming more and more a loose-loose career (I am not going to go into details just saying).
That said I don't know what else I would do, any ideas/suggestions?

Make a few lists of the all things that you feel are important to you.
Where or what would give you the quality of life that you desire?
Set a few targets and start making a plan.
All very simple unless you have to consider a partner,family or health.
Even if nothing can change right away ,you may find that by looking at things different ,or even just a bit closer you will find how to connect better to how you want to be.
Yeah haggis, the partner has to be considered (primary school teacher). Plus wedding and house buying on the horizon so costs of those have to factor it.
More just wondering if people have been braver than I am, after all I will probably stick with teaching as it is relatively 'safe' if not that awesome.
Left the country, went part time, change of lifestyle, work from home now. Ride when I want sometimes except when I'm injured or travelling which seems to be more frequent.
Downsides less cash, less stability, less security.

Teach in a PRU instead, I did and love it. Nearly quit my old teaching job in a main stream school I hated it that much.
Go and observe other areas/ schools/ types of schools and see if there's anything slightly different you fancy.
