We will be in touch
We were told our house had cavity wall insulation by the vendors.
Three years in, and a few windows replaced and holes drilled, it appears we do not have any.
Who at present does 'free' insulation?
Also, the back of the house while very well sheltered is a little, *ahem*, bodged by the previous owners. I know that the old windows did not have cavity closers, or cavity trays, and that one part of the wall has a joint that is poorly done between masonry/masonry and masonry/timber frame - and it has an open hole under the floor of the extension. We also have a few air vents, that do not go through wall, just outer leaf. I presume a good company can deal with these issues at time of install?
When I did cavity wall insulation, moons ago mind.
Vents to vent just the cavity didn't mater, but under floor vents you need to sleeve. Either chisel out the air brick or smack it out and put a new one in.
Do you really need it? You're up in Scotland like us aren't you? We had it removed out of our house a few years ago due to the damp coming through. Much better now. To be fair, our house takes a bit of a battering from the weather at times. But, you know, worth thinking about.
The issue we have in the house, particularly part of the extension(s) is that the inner wall is so cold we get condensation, then mould. It is the classic 'behind the wardrobe' etc.
We do not have damp coming in, especially as I have cleared out all the French drains recently round the back.
The house is very sheltered from blown in rain.
Ah, different problem to us.
Matt,
Contact these folks in the first instance.

It might come across my desk eventually 😉

Do not put anything in your cavities except graphite impregnated poly beads.
If it's the free stuff you'll almost certainly get blown glass fibre. Poly beads are more expensive, but drain far better and hold moisture much less.
If you are in an exposed location consider not doing it unless you can clad the exterior walls that get the weather with an additional weather surface to prevent moisture penetration of the outer leaf wall.
