watching casino royale and although it is indeed a good film, I just don't understand the basic mechanism of the "Skyfleet plot" that forces LeChiffre to play cards.
If you own a load of stock in a company. Then sell it. You get cash back for what you already own. So you SAVE the loss that otherwise would have happened if you didn't sell. Great. But how does that actually MAKE you money?!?!? Maybe I have misunderstood short-selling as mentioned by M.
Repurchasing the stock on the cheap after the prices crash only works if a) you don't get caught as it's illegal and b) you have the patience for the stock to rise.
Please point out where I am being stupid!
It's not real, and quite possibly a bit crap.
If I say i'll sell you an XT crankset for £150, and you accept you now have a e-mail confirming that you own it and it's in the post.
Meanwhile I bank on CRC having one in stock at £150, I sell this one to you, everyones happy(ish).
Now if CRC has put its prices up in the meantime to £160 i still owe you a crankset but I'm down £10.
If the price drops because XT cranks are suddenly faulty and CRC clears it's stock for £100, then you get the cranks and i get £50.
Substitute Cranks for airbus shares and CRC for a shares broker.
Genius.

I know Bond has gone all badass with Daniel Craig but give me Roger Moore vs. Richard Kiel any day of the week 😉

That other one is just a shoddy remake
