If I'm not sure if something is racist or not I just think to myself, is this a 'joke' that Bernard Manning would make?
In this case, I could definitely imagine Bernard Manning making the same joke on stage the day Carl Weathers died.
So there you go, that's how I decide.
But of course, there are people of colour out there who will argue Manning wasn't a racist but I'm not sure if we should really disregard what we can see and hear for ourselves. No matter how wrong it feels as a white person to tell a person of colour you think they are wrong when it comes to racism.
Like I said, it's tough being a white man. It's never simple and we just have to accept we're never right.
