Motorway all the way, or cut across on the A46? I'm going there tonight, coming back at about 4.30 or so tomorrow.
A46 is what we use from ours near Brecon to mate in Warwick. M50 is still mostly 40mph, but you may not use that from Cardiff anyway.
A46 may require some overtaking to make progress 😉
I do it every so often and always do the motorway.
Came back from Pembrokeshire last Saturday and it was under 2hrs from Cardiff to Warwick going on m50, m5, m42 and m40. Very easy driving.
Does depend on what time you want to travel though
Is the A46 dual carriageway? And is the A46 better in rush hour? I've got bad memories of the M42.
M42 is usually fine unless you get unlucky.
A46 is dual carriageway (although I'm not sure all of the way), but there are lots of roundabouts which can slow progress a bit.
