Looking at buying 4 new tyres for my car, they're 195 55 15s. For a nice tyre I know works well it's 75 quid a tyre fitted. For 195 50 15s it's only 45 quid a tyre fitted. Identical construction, identical tyre. Nuts. I'm going to go with the smaller ones and see how much difference it makes to my MPG! Speedo will be about 2mph high at motorway speeds, but who cares!
Your car will care, your suspension and damping are all set for a centre of gravity based on your original spec.
Shop around. I saved nearly 90 quid on expensive touring tyres by going to the other end of town and to another Garage.
Try Black Circles online too for an alternative.
Nah, total difference of 10mm wheel radius (when new, there could be a couple of mm in it with the right wear combinations) will make sod all difference and a lower unsprung mass will make no difference to the "fits several cars of different sizes" shock Bilstein shocks. It's not my sporty car (which has tyres 1.7% smaller than original and works better than ever lol).
Blackcircles were one of the most pricey unfortunately, local shops were cheaper but none compared to the price I got from tyremen.co.uk
Get the proper sized ones but phone around and play them off each other. That's what I do and tend to get a huge discount. Mark up on tyres is silly - >100%
Bear in mind that if you have an accident and get a very anal inspector he may note the tyres are the wrong size and declare your insurance invalid.
Try E tyres. They show up on Google but call rather than use the web as the call taker may have other options that aren't on web. They're pretty good value and come to you to fit tyres.
