I have just had a bump on the motorway, while transporting bikes.
I had to brake suddenly for the cars in front, unfortunatly the car behind me was unable to slow down quick enough.
The other driver managed to crash in to my tow bar bike carrier, bend my rear wheel, scuff my seat and chatter my bike in to my girlfriends bike causing some minor scuffs and chips to both bikes.
There's Some minor panel damage to the rear of my car, which i'm sure the other party's insurance will pay for.
I was just wondering if anyone has had any similar Bike&Car insurance claims as I don't really know what to expect with the bikes. Both of them less than 2 years old and both of them with many modifications.
I'm a little worried what effect side impact would have on a full suspension bike's pivots.
I would find any one's previous experiance helpful, thanks ๐
If the other driver is at fault, their insurance company should pay for all damage.
Yes they pay as they hit you and they have no defence...same as if you were towing a caravan and they hit that
just ensure that the carrier was properly wired up for electrics - they *may* try and wriggle out on the basis they didn't see the brake lights..? just a thought.
Should be ok with tow bar , as it was fitted by an approved installer. Do insurance companies repair bikes or do they replace them?
Was a light board and number plate fitted and light working and visible.
Dont forget the tow bar and carrier may also need replacing.
It was a proper thule bike mount with working lights, correct number plate, all in perfect working order. It's a bit broken know though ๐ฅ
I will mention the towball when it goes to the body shop cheers.
just incase the insurance company question it.
