Been going on for about 6 months. Everything works fine, but when you start the car the lights come on only when the starter is turning, then go off whens shes running. That, and the dash computer resets all values such as mpg etc to zero to start again. Ford Kuga Mk1 diesel

Needs a new battery? I had a Focus once that reset the dash computer every time I started up. Changed the battery and it was fine....... until the turbo then gave up. Coincidence?
Yes, coincidence.
I'm really no expert, but possibly an earth fault on the starter motor, with the current finding it's way back via. the lights.
Tthew, its just had a new starter motor so im inclined to rule that out yet still possible i guess.

I assume the the problem started well before the starter motor was replaced? if so you are probably right. When things stop working I often find it's the last thing I dicked about with caused the problem. anything repaired/replaced/changed immediately before the issue arose? If the starter motor replacement was 5 or 5.5 month ago, poor installation or an early life defect could still be the cause.
