You wake up at 6am after 6hrs kip?? Wouldn't say that was a bad nights kip! Is that the time you normally get up for work?? I find it really hard to not wake up at the same time every day unless I ask my friend mr lager for some help at the weekend ๐Ÿ˜€

Is it the holiday? If I have a holiday I find it hard to sleep. Going from a manual job and lots of cycling and looking after kids to sitting on my arse doing nothing means trouble.
Not had a two week holiday since 1989, then we had to hire a telly for something to do all night

I'm a light sleeper anyway, five hours max. But I think you must have something on your mind if it's not the lack of activity.

Oh and try working shifts, that really throws a spanner into the works. Going to bed before long and up to now I've averaged ( due to the weather) about 4 hours kip per day this week. I'm not bitter btw ๐Ÿ˜‰

There are a few things you can do with diet that might help. Lots on the Internet about diet for shift workers that is probably relevant.

I never sleep straight through the night, I always wake up every couple of hours or so and then it usually takes another couple of hours to go back to sleep. I couldn't care less, I just lie still and try to switch off and least I'm still relaxing if not sleeping.

Try:

1. get off coffeee, tea, completely, only decaff. (that has made a huge diff at me, my heartrate dropped, making me faster on the bike ๐Ÿ™„

2. no idea,if it helps, but try getting off sugar !

I haven't slept since I woke up at 7.15am

Yesterday. ๐Ÿ™ Had to pull an all nighter, head is now full of stimulants (well, 3 tins of monster) and now I have to go in to work till 7ish depending on how busy I'll be.

Advice on sleeping? Exersize more, but for more a more immediate solution, what wors said.

I have done exactly the same. But I end up doing it quite a lot. Never happens when with my girlfriend.

The problem isn't that I don't need much sleep, its that I naturally seem to sleep better during the day. A lot of people say just sleep when you are tired and wake up the same time every day and it will even out. Tried this, but my sleep time just gets later and later till after about 3 days I am going to sleep 2 hours before alarm and subsequently sleep through it till the afternoon. By this stage it makes more sense to just stay awake and reset body clock by going to bed at a reasonable time the next night (adding an hour ish to compensate for the lack of previous sleep).

I have no problems falling asleep when I am tired, and its always good sleep, so not insomnia.

I guess its caused by a lack of routine (student).

I know this isn't much help, just thought I'd share so you know you're not alone!

get a puppy, much more fun than a child.

plus the amount of lost sleep in the first few weeks means that if i am now in any kind of comfortable position i am imediately asleep.

found my eyes drooping at the traffic light in hillsboro this morning, while sat on me commuter bike.

sleep tastic.

Have always found that exercise works. The weather helps I rode Sun, Mon and again last night. Was cleaning my teeth with my eyes closed and started drifting off.

cheers for the advice guys, i eventually got 2 1/2 hours @ 8am.......woo hoo! I think the stop drinking tea thing is a good idea as for more exercise i doubt i could fit more in or the body could take any more. Going to have a leisurely spin later on this afternoon in the sun and chill out a bit.

Enjoy the sunshine guys! ๐Ÿ˜€
