I've got a kindle fire hd and have started reading again.
Can you recommend any decent books? I like a good comedy and a good thriller.
Thanks in advance.

Apache by Ed Macey if it's on there. Not a comedy or a thriller but a good read.

If you like a good comedy and a good thriller, I'd suggest making a start on Christopher Brookmyre's back catalogue.

2nd Apache, & if you like that, 'Sniper One' is unputdownable. Not 'thrillers' but still thrilling.

2nd "The Passage", very good. Also the "Hunger Games" trilogy is worth a read.

My recommendation? "King Rat" by China Mieville. Real page turner.

Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovich. It's a comedy, thriller, horror, fantasy with a bit of 'historic' added for good measure.

Ticks quite a few boxes, that one does.

Pinkster. See my link, I should have put the name rather than the link.
The whole series up to now is really good. Another one coming out in June

I enjoyed 8 lives down by chris hunter. EOD type in eye-rack. Very exciting. Sniper 1 was good too. Is soldier I on there? Fantastic book. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Soldier-S-A-S-Michael-Paul-Kennedy/dp/0747507503

If you grew up in the era of arcade games then I can't recommend 'Ready Player One' highly enough. A little difficult to pin down the genre exactly but It's sort of a sci fi thriller with some decent comedy moments.

I like Reamde (not a typo) by Neal Stephenson for a thriller of the moment.

If you follow the advice of Cougar and enjoy Chris Brookmyres books ( and if you read them you will) then you may Los enjoy Carl Hiiasen as well.

I like Iain Banks books too.

Bruk read my mind!

+ 1 on all his choices. And more relevant jus finished the secret race, which was pretty good, in a depressing sort of way!

Robert Rankin - start with The Antipope, the first book of the rather misnamed Brentford Trilogy.

This.

Plus the sequels; Moon Over Soho and Whispers Underground

But my favourite book is still Lonesome Dove.

I love Michael Marshall Smith's "One of Us". His "Only Forwards" and "Spares" are worth a read too.

I like Iain Banks books too.
The Crow Road is an amazing book, read it a few times now. Any book that starts "It was the day my Grandmother exploded" has got to be a good read ๐Ÿ˜€

Complicity is also a favourite Iain Banks book of mine, but its a bit different to The Crow Road.
