A British company has demonstrated a prototype device capable of stopping cars and other vehicles using a blast of electromagnetic waves.

The RF Safe-Stop uses radio frequency pulses to "confuse" a vehicle's electronic systems, cutting its engine.

Cue criminals and insurgents buying pre 1980's cars.

of course no one would have to use any fancy devices to stop those for the good reason they're unlikely to go more than 200 yards without breaking down ๐Ÿ˜‰

Older cars can be stopped with a stinger (roll of spikes that puncture the car tyres) whereas some modern cars have run-flat tyres so a stinger wouldn't work (hence the 'need' for this type of device).

There was also another device which fired a kevlar net, the net got wound round the moving parts, jamming them up and stopping the car.

police seem interested for using this on motorbikes where stingers are more dangerous.

some crims are already ahead of the game in this area though to stop the ray guns working..

That would be good for a warranty conversation after your car is recovered and all of the electronics have or start failing after being subjected to an elctromagnetic pulse. How will they prevent it affecting devices nearby.
