Anyone know of a good website for info on campingaz and propane gas?

We've got campingaz bottle but the van can also use propane. I'd like to run on propane in the UK and keep the campingaz for foreign trips. I  need to work out which bits and pieces I need that will work with the hob and boiler.

Thanks

Have you considered a single gaslow refillable tank, then you can just top up at LPG pumps when convenient, rather than having to carry two cylinders for when you run out on an evening.  A bit spendy up front but filling up is much cheaper

I've got a propane cylinder in the van and campingaz BBQ and thinking about converting everything to Propane and running it all off the same tank. Looked at LPG route but read that LPG is harder to get hold of on the continent...no idea if that is true and to some extent irrelevant as the amount of gas I actually use is pretty small.

Another consideration in my case is that I was considering running the heater off gas too but have read that LPG or Propane heaters are not a s warm as diesel ones or as efficient and generate alot more moisture so that put me off a bit.

But just for cooking I think LPG would be great.

Lpg user here.

Lpg stoves can easily be as warm as diesel but much quieter . Issue being the basic diesel heaters are quite powerful but folk fitting the basic lpg heaters are disappointed because they are much lower kw than their diesel counter parts and lpg heating gives off zero moisture to interior.if it it did you would die of CO poisoning at the same time. The burner is room sealed and intake/exhausted to exterior .

My 2800w has no issue keeping my van at 20degrees inside when it's -10 outside.

2000w basic models struggle with that.

+1 for lpg kit much more convienant I find having been running trade in cans previously much easier to find lpg ime than finding the brand of gas you happen to have in stock and in the bottle size you need.

I have a 6kg gasit kit and that runs the fridge the heater and the stove for ages .....I forgot to turn the fridge off recently and it ran for 3 weeks before I noticed it was on while parked up

Find out what pressure your gas system runs at (will probably be marked on the regulator). If it is 30 mBar then you just need a 30 mBar regulator for the propane bottle - it is a ‘harmonised’ pressure standard. Older installations will need a different pressure.

LPG is propane for all intents and purposes (pedant points available) and is available abroad...

I think there a couple of countries (spain comes to mind) where LPG is harder to come by, but to be honest its more long term in the UK thats the consideration, some petrol stations are not renewing LPG pumps during their refits.

Gas heating does not cause moisture in the vehicle as all modern/safe heaters are roomed sealed and exhaust to the outside.  I've got the lowest version of the propex (2000) and its good enough.

It sounds like you have not bought your heater yet, bear in mind that diesel Ebers use a glow plug for quite some time so if it cycles on and off a few times you are using lots of 12v power, the propex using a spark ignition for a few seconds and from then on the only power consumption is the fan circulating hot air.
