I have a real variety of quoted costs going on - Galaxy at 125k so needs timing belt/pump and intermediate service.
How much should I be looking at?

For the cambelt & waterpump I'd suggest £300-400 would be reasonable.
Service on top of that possible £200-300 tops.

I had my 05 plate focus done recently with same engine I think. Was around £300. They did not need to replace water pump though as I believe they are not directly connected in my car anyway.

There are various engines, just around the age of mine. Definitely a belt.

The £370 belt/pump and £99 or £140 service seems reasonable then...

very reasonable

just besure they use real seals and waterpump and not the cheapest pattern junk they can get their hands on - sounds obvious but some garages dont do this.

Having my 58 plate mondeo estate done tomorrow it's just clicked on 100k miles
287.96 plus vat at my local garage not using cheap shit parts

Do you need them to do the interim service? You can swap some filters yourself and spray some lube on the door hinges!

Galaxy 2.0tdci are chain as wysiwyg suggests, the older 1.8 had belts.

Isn't it a belt to one camshaft and a chain between the two camshafts on the 2.0 tdci ?
I'm under the impression only the belt needs changing and not until 125,000 miles.

Well technically they do have a belt but it's under the top covers and is a bugger to get off, it's a full rebuild thing normally!

Looking around Ford charge about £250 to do it, but you have to have their service at the same time.

This.

Ford garage Stirling wanted £500 for belt n pump.

It does need a service too.
