MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
Well some of the old timer on here (like the pre-hack period) may remember me. As I am know not in the UK and my job doesn't involve sitting at a keyboard all day long it is true to say that I barely come on here much.
I am quite shocked and very sad about Bullheart and Troutie 🙁
Never got a chance to actually meet them in real life but always liked their attitude (ok probably not always this is afterall STW)
So now the question is how is everyone from the good old time doing?
Are you French Juan who used to live in SOuthampton?
If so, I'm doing fine, thanks. But I'm much older now.
Still here... for my sins.
perfect mate, and I hope you are too.
Taking it Juan day at a time.
Ca va, Juan?
The question for old-timers should be how's the riding going?
The question for old-timers should be how’s the riding going?
Surely wrong forum, I thought no one rode anymore in the Chat forum 😉
I'm still here from the old days.
All very well Juan here in my new deep undercover guise
But I’m much older now.
We all are, but Juan remains younger, Frencher and more handsomer than us 😀
Still here. 10 years on this forum, just waiting for the Queen to give me a medal lol.
My first post (predictably a tire thread) was 7 years ago, if that counts.
Mostly lurking but still here.
We all are, but Juan remains younger, Frencher and more handsomer than us
Well I so wish this was true, but the 'younger' bit is a very old memory 😀
Glad to hear from familiar names. I am good here and happy that everyone else is even 'thoseindisguise'
Canny.
On behalf of the lurkers I'll wave a fond hello from BITD.
What year was the hack? I guess 2004 or 2005? Was it then that everyone had to re-register? Or was there some other update for that?
Hi Juan.
I remember you were one of the brave ones who posted your picture on that super long thread of members' pictures. And then you disappeared.
I assumed there was some sort of correlation, so it's good to know you're okay.
Welcome back.
I assumed there was some sort of correlation
Well my 'disapearence had more to do with me working in the industry and being in France. Just popped back because I am looking for some help about locations and B&B in London and I have decided to have a quick look throught the various posts. And failed to recognise anyone 🙁
IIRC The hack was more 2007-2008
Waves.
Still riding, still rolling my eyes at some of the posts on here, also still learning lots of stuff.
Still looking after the bird and wildlife population.
Lovely to hear from you again. Can't help regarding that London, as I don't live anywhere near or ever visit.
Bunnyhop x
There's still a lot of lurkers here, who have been around for years, but for people like me who are normally working during the day and only get on here in the evenings, things have slowed down a helluva lot!
As normal there will always be those who are right and wrong. 😄
Hi! I guess I'm fairly old-time, I think I registered just after I bought my first copy of the mag - issue 14, the one where Jenn tried her hand at MTB photography under the guidance of Steve Behr IIRC!
This forum led me to singlespeeding, a LOT of tech talk, a stint as a cycle courier and ultimately a career in the bike industry, as well as introducing me to lots of lovely people and a few ridiculous memes (I actually met that ginger guy who started sending photos of himself to female forum members although mercifully I can't remember his name). I don't post anywhere near as much these days, unless I'm procrastinating, as I have a business to run, but - hi Juan!
EDIT: and I'm still in That London, ping me a message if I can help at all.
I've been on here almost since the beginning. I even contributed some articles to the mag, way back yonder. Back in the nineties and noughties my brother and I were so obsessed with mountain biking that we drove the rest of our family to distraction.
Still here after 16 years, a little bit older but still managing to throw the bike down a few hills on a regular basis. Both my girls have grown up and are still riding bikes.
:waves: Also contributed a couple of reviews, from memory. Long time ago!
Salut Juan.
have you learned to ride that motorbike of your yet?
🙂
I can remember gofar. I remember seeing my name in the mag in the top 10 forum posters.
Christ where did the time go?
still there - still in UK
10 years on this forum
Newcomer.
Been here a fair while, before the hack and after.
I'm mostly still here 🙂
Is this going to be a juan post wonder?
Here since GoFar/ original subscriber, mostly lurking some stuff has changed, some hasn’t 😌
{wave} Still here from the pre hack days now with a geographically more accurate username following a house move.
I am NOT getting older (in my head). My body keeps trying to disagree. I'm arguing with it.
I'd say I'm winning.
It says I'm a liar.
Hi juan, still riding hardtails in the mountains?
Anyone know who that Chipps fella is?? ☝️ Never heard of him.
Hello Juan, been here for 14 years ('ish) when I first got a desk at work where nobody could see the screen.
2003 vintage here
Waves .
I’m still here, but I’m hardly the most prolific poster anyway.
Salut, mon vieux!
Since the final year that sleepless in the saddle was at Trentham gardens whenever that was..Collected lots of scars along the way but still more or less intact 😉
Greetings from Wales. I'm still here.
hello everyone.
Nice to see some familiar faces around here 😀
Rocketdog yes still ride HT in the mountains it's the only way I can cope up with Ebikes uphill 😉 (BTW Ebikes are AE)
Cfh nice to hear from you 😉
Chipps still wearing horrible tartan bibs?
Molgrips the question shouldn't be how the riding is doing more like how the post riding is doing 😉
Onion we all do but I like your adventures on the bike 😉
Bunny */Wave/*
Pete I ahve no idea what you're talking about 😉
Tracey glad to here everyone in the family still rides bikes 😀
Been lurking around since the days of Gofar. Think my mag subscriber No. is 633, so I just missed out on the introductory subscriber offers to the first 500. Still miffed at that. Don't really post much, but I do enjoy surfing the threads.
Not sure exactly but was introduced to the site by Daisy-Duke when we worked together from 96.... It was some time after that I joined but I remember at least a couple of major crashes so probably 16+ yrs....

are you a creative accountant? 133 away is hardly "just" away from 500 😊
Bonjour Juan.
Been here since 2005, seems like just a few months ago, where's the time gone??
Only been out on the mountain bike once this year I'm still using 26' wheels & I don't bounce as well as I used to.I also got a gravel bike the other year,I think it's more suited to the terrain I ride these days... but I'm doing more miles than ever out on the road bike.
Who you calling old?
Who you calling old?
:D:D:D:D
I still pop in and out, but mainly because I'm just confused
Think my mag subscriber No. is 633, so I just missed out on the introductory subscriber offers to the first 500.
I think I'm subscriber 133. I remember someone from STW once saying that the first 100 subs were reserved as gifts for industry people, so I must have been the 33rd subscriber?
Waves!
Hello, I think I remember meeting you at JoJo's 40th?
I've been lurking about here since around 2005, I certainly remember the hack.
I still come on but nowhere near as often. Things change.
Looking in my profile history my first post in there is 10 years ago. I was around before the hack though, no idea when I started posting. When did the forum actually start?
Hello, I think I remember meeting you at JoJo’s 40th?
I was at Jojo's 40th indeed (gosh was that really 10 years ago 😐 )
When did the forum actually start?
Back in the days where the chat forum was named coffee forum 😉
I think it's fair to say anyone that has been MTBING for around a decade has earned some kind of stripes.
32 yrs for me.
Struggling the last 6mo .
Stiff neck / shoulder thing.
Probably not posted here in 5yrs.
I got a heads up about the Sleaford Mods post...
About that stiff neck...
Hola Juan! Estoy bien gracias! Estoy aprendiendo español. Lo siento 🙂
Just logged on and found I have an unread message from a year ago and then found this thread. Needless to say not here often. Joined a very long time ago, must be 15 years or more. Is Hora still around and changing his bike every 5 minutes?
Ha .. we were literally just talking about 'what happened to Hora' There are definitely a few contenders among current posters ... won't mention them though 😉
Hola Juan! I think I discovered the forum in 2003, so 16 years ago. Haven’t ridden for a few years now, a stupid low-speed off damaged my knee and my confidence on the bike, and the subsequent arthritis is making walking uncomfortable now, so I’m just an interested bystander.
Still on here most days though. Glad you’re well, good to see you’re still around.
😁
Hola! Been around since I bought my Orange Evo2 in 2001. Still nobody will talk to me.
The hack was 10 years ago - Christmas 2008
Adishatz. 9 more days, maybe more... .
About 13 years or thereabouts. Don't post much at the moment. Still read though.
15 years for me. Don't ride any more but the chat forum gets a daily visit.
Been here since the start but don't post much now as Auntie has gotten old & stopped flirting with everyone 😉
The hack was 10 years ago – Christmas 2008

It's been so long since I shipped out that I rarely stick my nose in here now. I just did and this reminded me of just how long ago it was since I last turned a crank in anger (or at all) - 16 years? I'm not sure I should thank you for pointing that out
Coming here for too many years. Used to be Cube and Cubed (when I had one of the first imported!) Remember plenty of good Hora baiting, Mr and Mrs Flash, the great badger thread, the Prawn and many more...happy days.
I think I have been here since 2001. 🤔

yeap the badger thread, the helmet debates, the friday minogue obviously the picolax thread, the london olympics logo thread, the friday riding pic and so and so
I am glad to see some familiar names on here 😀
Hi Juan
I'm still here (seemingly a perpetual noob) and signed up long before the hack; time flies!
I've been here so long I think I was here before there was even a forum....
I am still here after about 15 years, but have changed my name a few times.
Hello there Juan.
Been here for 12 years or so... Whatever happened to Fred?
Hi Juan,
Remember you of course,
I was here considerably pre hack
I'm near London if I can help in any way
Here since 2006 I think. Started under a different name and changed it after The Hack.
