my little sis is currently out in the states and as such could pick me up a go-pro 3+ Black for 380$, saving about 35€-45€.

but, do i really want one? aren't there already enough shakey videos out there?

but, assuming i do want on, which one should i go for?

i like the idea of being able to instantly see what the camera is filming via the app and the remote stop-start controller. in which case i'd be best off buying the 3+ Black.

but what other decent alternatives are there out there or should i settle on a Silver edition and? how much use does the remote thingy get?

I hardly use the bundled remote.

Pretty sure the silver has WiFi so will still work with the phone app.

There are loads of shaky videos about but they are not yours! Great for capturing memories, just doesn't always need sharing! I have a lot just to watch back - family stuff, holidays as well as riding and skiing.

If you don't have a good PC be prepared for another cost.

Time and skills to edit helps a lot.

Love my camera, great fun.

As an alternative you could look at a [url=

action camera[/url], Gopro video quality for less than £50.Although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a GP I am very impressed with mine.

The app isn't great for live viewing - the lag is pretty bad. I've used the remote a couple of times, but to be honest once you get used to the beeps on the camera it's not that hard to control blind.

Agree with the comments about a fast PC. My Intel Core 2 Duo / 4GB RAM desktop really struggles.

Are you seeing lag with the 3 or 3+? The 3+ is much faster but still about a second. Not a true live view but very useable for framing shots and playing with mounts or even using remote when the camera is on someone else.

I use my gopro as a robust mountable stills camera more than a video camera.

I know what you mean re shaky videos. There's not much you or I can do about this.

But what about an SJ1000 or SJ4000? Miles cheaper and almost as good.

Set to time lapse, see what you get.

I use the remote for kitesurfing when the go-pro is mounted 30m away on the strut or leading edge.

Doubt i would use it on the bike, more kit to fiddle with and trash.
