Ok so I'm planning to build a garage on the side of house it won't come past front of house so all that's fine. Also going to build a porch which will go on front in middle of house which is also fine to do with out full planning permission. But then the problem comes our adjoining neighbour has recently had extension to side and put canopy on front which runs over the front door and window. So I'd like to carry it across upto porch then over garage door too it only petrudes around 800 mm but planning office say I need planning permission for this. But I know my neighbour didn't have. So what can happen if I just get building notice and do it anyway. Which they could see if they come to inspect.
Any help of experience is useful thanks

building notice is building regs, has nothing to do with planning

Yes I agree and I only need building regs for garage an porch but as soon as I want to do the canopy I need planning. So I'm told
