What products would the brogue wearers/butlers of said brogue wearers recommend to protect a new pair of tan leather brogues from the ravages of a Scottish winter! I'm assuming there is some ridiculously expensive but ever-so traditional creme of whose existence I am not yet aware....any help STW massive ?

Trees, polish and don't wear them back to back days so they can dry out. Sponge off salt deposits etc.

shoe tree's are a must. for weatherproofing use mink oil, if your shoes have a storm welt you can put wax or polish down between the uppers and the welt. if they get wet use newspaper then the tree's and allow to dry naturally.

not a fan of leather soles in the winter so just got these with a commando sole.

I'm not being a smartarse here, but shouldn't you wear black shoes in this kind of weather? Anything tan and you're asking for a pee-stain on the toes of your shoes. ๐Ÿ™‚

Or tie a plastic bag round them. (Ok, i was being a smartarse there).

when you are over six foot but only take a size 8 they don't look so beastly like a size 11 would. (they are tan not the odd orange colour in the pic too)

grenson/tricker brogues are all the rage down in that london right now.

Ohhh don't wear them in that Scotlandshire they'll get all mucky like.. Ain't that what wellies are for??

If you are not bothered about the colour then wax them up, but the wax will soak right on in there and discolour the leather. Failing that you'll need to keep em' clean of mud/grit and not wear them day in/day out (as said) or they'll never dry out and discolour around the "dry" line where the uppers dry out quicker than the soles...

You need another pair son..

I've been wearing mine and have yet to "polish" them, I'm not inclined to do that as I want the slightly worn look and so do not want to discolour the beautiful colour they currently are..

Don't forget to roll those jeans up and wear some funky socks now will you..

Brogues Rule init.
