[#7794255]

Seen threads like this before, and always thought them to be a bit lazy.

But here I am, writing this! 😀 Some pointers would be great if you know the area. Catching up with a few friends over the long weekend, someone picked a campsite here without knowing much about the area. Probably not taking bikes given the mix of people.

Spent any time there? Any solid gold dos and don'ts?

Cheers!

I had relations with a lass during a period working in Bridport - She had three nipples.

I also got shouted at for driving onto the set of Harbour Lights.

Hope this helps, enjoy your stay.

It's a beautiful part of the country - I'm from down that way. If you're into outdoors stuff there's loads of walking. You're right on the Jurassic Coast.

Walking wise:

Colmer's Hill (recently on the Julia Bradley walking series)
Golden Cap (highest point on the South Coast)

West Bay is a pretty little seaside harbour. Where Broadchurch was filmed.

Worth a drive to Abbotsbury along the coast road. Cracking views of Chesil Beach to Portland. Walk up to St Catherine's Chapel.

Loads of pubs and good food. The Anchor in Burton Bradstock for good Seafood. The Hive cafe for lunch on Chesil Beach in Burton Bradstock.

So: check nipples, don't drive onto TV sets.

Gotcha. 🙂

Not a girl called Kerry. Mentalist.

Pierced nipples. Only two though.

Must be something about nipples in Bridport.

Not sure about Bridport itself but the coast is nice there. Seatown is a nice little beach with a pub. Walk from there along the coast over Golden Cap. All of the coast, but especially towards Lyme Regis is good for fossil hunting.

Possibly not a group activity but its worth popping into the Axminster Power Tools showroom (in Axminster) if you get time

So: check nipples,

Yes but don't necessarily think two is normal

CFH, my wife's name is pronounced the same, but spelled differently. I shall keep a close eye on hers, just in case.

Cheers nickjb - there will definitely be some tooling about on the beach. along with a mandatory go in the sea, which I have mixed feelings about.

Stock up on beer from the Palmer's Brewey outlet.

+1 Hive Beach cafe (check opening times though).

+1 Lots of walking - Charmouth, Lyme, etc.

The little cafe in Bridport (No10 ?) used to be a good spot for breakfast, but that was 10 years ago...

I could picture the giant sand dunes travelling along the coast from Bridport being great fun to tackle on a fat bike. 😉

Only the one fatbike between the 6 of us, and I'll probably be leaving it at home. :-/

Back in September 2013, we stayed at the Parkdean caravan site in West Bay, there was a bus that went to Weymouth. The Sealife park was worth visiting, if you like that type of thing.
