Genuinely a bit sad to hear about this - but happy that through Father Ted, he reached an audience outside Ireland (and not the only Irish comedy great to do the same). He was an utter legend when we were growing up. Pretty sure he’d had an Irish Number 1 with Combine Harvester before the Wurzels had theirs here. 😢 RIP big man.

Was listening to some of his best bits on radio earlier, his drunk father of the bride speach is a cracker.
Very sad news, grew up watching his work, managed see him live few times at home too.
Will have to dig out his dvd later and rewatch it, loved his bottler character. I think I might even have some vinyl of his act.
