There were 2 covering defenders so unless it was a horrific foul it was always going to be yellow.

Given what we've seen in the games where players have been sent off, I'm all for the refs finding any reason to keep it eleven-a-side for as long as possible. Two bookables, headbutts, dangerous professional fouls, etc...yeah, red card, but if there's any question, I think the ref should keep them on the pitch.
