He won't care, he can just wheel out the excuse that the Nasty EU are trying to tar his name after the success of his Brexit.

The arrogance will be his downfall, he’s forgotten that the arses he kicked on the way up are the ones he’ll need to kiss on the way down.

More like he has never thought that he could fall down at all, it's only up for him in his mind.

Yes, but Carrie will take him to the cleaners. She's no mug when it comes to getting a payout.

Surely he wouldn't ennoble someone just because they were a family member or had extended the hand of friendship to him whilst in office?

Kelvin McKenzie is taking it well in his latest, clearly drunk or high, Mail column.

We always knew he was at best a useful idiot for the russians and that Putin wanted to destabilise and weaken both the UK and the EU brexit being his tool to do so

I actually believe Johnson was more than a useful idiot. I believe he knew he was being played but wanted the money

McKenzie has made a career out of supposedly advancing the interests of thickos (or so they think) whilst actually cynically taking the piss out of them. I don't see anything different in that daft little ditty.🤷‍♂️

Yet another thing he’ll just walk away from, waving two fingers at us all, with absolutely no sanction

If he has deleted the ones he doesn't want to be seen, how will anyone be any the wiser? (unless those he was in conversation with grass him up)

Of course he will have deleted them. He doesn't give a shit about due process or honesty, just preserving his lying skin.

🤷‍♂️

Given who he’ll likely have been in conversation with, I doubt many will feel like doing him any favours

The thing is if everyone you communicate with knows you’re a liar you can be sure as hell that they’ll be keeping their copies knowing you’ll be deleting yours

But if they’re implicated as well, they won’t complain about what’s gone missing.

That was my thinking.... and then what's worse, an 'incriminating' message showing bad decisions / incompetence, or the same that you've then tried to cover up but someone else kept a copy of.

I've said before - not trying to defend 'the man' himself but in a 'play the ball not the man' way, it was a high pressured time and mistakes will have been made that we should now be learning from. If that goes beyond honest mistakes into incompetence, let it be noted as such as well, with the repercussions that reputations and future reliance is adjusted accordingly. If it goes beyond incompetence into corruption, then let's act on that.

So if they have faith they did all the best they could at the time, what is there to fear from revealing this stuff.

Nah. They're such a coterie of self-serving bastards there will be something dodgy from each party in each conversation. They're not clever or organised enough to get together or to completely shaft each other, so they'll do the bastard-like thing and delete everything in an attempt to cover it up.

We can't have a thread on every Tory MP individually, but ....... Johnny Mercer on QT. What? I used to think he was bordering on the OK end of Tory MP's,but this last week or so, culminating in tonight's show..... reappraised.

I do like what someone observed on SM. He was claiming that as Dale Vince has donated to some Labour MPs, and also donated to Just Stop Oil - that means Labour and JSO are somehow linked / the same. So if I donate to the IRA and also to the Tory party, then the Tory party and the IRA are also linked?

And on a 2-for-1 - Andrea Jenkyns. Why can't teachers strike on days they don't work to minimise disruption?

Just watching QT now. What a pompous, arrogant, condescending prick Johnny Mercer is

Clearly a man who’s never heard the word no in his life. Everyone else shut up, I’m talking. And if you insist on talking when I want to, I’ll just shout over you

what an obnoxious ****!

No wonder he’s a natural fit in the Tory party

Horrible Bloke, summed up the new Tory party to me. Made Kate Andrews seem reasonable. Sick (generation X interpretation).

Easy to lose sight of this. Whatever we feel about the handling of Covid, this enquiry is about learning lessons so we do better next time - because there will be a next time.

Obviously, if we have evidence of lying and corruption as a result that destroys careers and reputations, its just a bonus.

Though I see they are still claiming that Boris's phone from 2020 is still unable to be accessed.....

It depends on how much you donate.
You giving a fiver then nope.
You giving a million or so then it should trigger a check on what you want and whether they should be associated with you. Part of that would include other causes you support.

A better comparison are all the Russians handing money to the tories.

Still nothing in the press about Charlotte Owen? Boozo was married to an Owen. She looks a bit beefy blonde. She got through and Dorries didn't, was it a quids pro quo?

I'm not 100%, but I think there's a super-injunction covering it, so no one [in the press] is going near it.

The real troubling thing is the absolute acceptance that "Just Stop Oil" are the bad guys, even on a thread where everyone wails about Tories.

I would expect someone who accepts that the world is in an environmental emergency should be also be broadly aligned to Labour principles, why is that a problem?

Tell me you don't read the red-tops..etc etc.

I think the Tories and RW press have been waiting for something like JSO to come along for ages now. They see how the Republicans have turned both BLM and Antifa into catchall bogeymen that they can use in both a "cultural", "anti democratic", "anti-law" sense and their supporters lap it up, The Tories and the red tops are hoping to use JSO in exactly the same way. I don't think there's not been coverage of some "outrage" that The Sun, The Express, The Mail haven't printed daily for weeks and weeks now.

To an extent, it'll work.

Or they didnt find anything. At least not enough to beat a libel case.
I would have thought an injunction would be hard to get in this case. Since the media would have the public interest defence in the number 10 jobs and the life peerage.

Marina Hyde did comment on it in the Guardian, saying that the only thing we need to know is whether he fathered her or shagged her, because its one or the other

Or potentially both, if he was in the dark about the fathering bit? It's always a bit of a risk once the number of kids goes beyond a certain number.

EDIT: Nice to see it's not just me thinking the worst. 🙂

To an extent, it’ll work.

It worked for 50 years with the 'global communist threat'.

Particularly in the developing world, the US ended up propping up all sorts of despots as any stirring of demand for redistribution was immediately branded a stooge of Moscow.

Different times, different bogeyman, same scared little people who silo themselves off from the world then live in fear of it. Sigh.

Or potentially both, if he was in the dark about the fathering bit? It’s always a bit of a risk once the number of kids goes beyond a certain number.

A little bit of sick just came up.

Is more than likely the right answer TBH. I can honestly see Johnson doing this (making her a life peer) just as a **** you to everyone. It's about his level.

Almost the storyline from an episode of My Name is Earl, on why Joy wasn't allowed out with black boys.

It is quite amazing how many kids he's knocked out given his porcine proportions and you know what they say about fat boys. Also with apparently otherwise intelligent women, it's a modern mystery.

sly dig in the Guardian announcement

"The former prime minister Boris Johnson is keen to be thought of as a scholar of the classics. In Greek mythology, Odysseus leaves behind his wife and child to seek adventure, encountering many other women along the way"

Hey… what’s another offence to add to his ever lengthening list?

And just like their messiah, mad nad, Rees-Mogg, fabri**** and all the rest of them walked away with no sanction for their various misdemeanours and remain completely unapologetic with not a shred of contrition

Utterly shameless, the lot of them!
