[#13528368]

To remove a really sore little lump.  It was really just a black dot with a white surround about 1mm across so it seemed a good thing to cut out with my new scalpel blade.

New blades are lovely and sharp and it was easy to trim the lump level with the skin around it.

Then I decided to dig deeper.

Nothing traumatic happened and I cut about 3mm deep of dead skin out. It removed a load of soreness from my foot.

Having healed myself,  I wonder how what exactly i have removed?

This really feels like the kind of thing that you'd be better off discussing on Mumsnet.

…a small amount of strain on the NHS…so long as you’ve not made a bigger mess.

WCA....I only opened this thread in the hope that you had carved Citroën into your foot. I am beyond disappointed

My guess is a small wart. My hunch is that you have removed dead skin but not the virus infected tissue. So it might come back

WCA, you are a man after my own heart, although I don't mean that in a physical way. I need my heart.

A friend works as a trainer for a big medical instruments firm and has sourced me 'things' in the past. Scalpels are useful on a regular basis mainly for trimming the skin and quick of my nails in my neverending quest to stop nibbling. Also used to aspirate contusions and a ganglion. Neat alcohol is your friend, it's a good antiseptic. Syringes are great for brakes and suspension.

Would you like to borrow my laparoscope!? Pick it up next time you are passing.

I did something similar as a kid with what I realise now was a verruca on my foot.  It had an unexpectedly deep root and it bled like a bastard.

When I had similar that had been annoying me for months, it turned out to be a bit of swarf that must have embedded in my foot after dropping into my safety crocs….

a bit of swarf that must have embedded in my foot

I suspect it was probably this. My safety flip flips occasionally get molten shards of metal embedded in them when I am using the angle grinder so there is no reason it shouldn't have happened to my foot as well.

Sorry for the lack of proper gore. I seem to have become boringly safe in my recent years.

Ever thought about trying keyhole surgery? I’m only a few days of frustration away from drastic measures with my knee/meniscus to volunteer.

Could it be an alien implant that was controlling your thoughts remotely using 5g and contrails?
