Evening, this year we will be going camping at Bude... I have promised minivader a boat trip fishing for mackrell but the only one going out of bude is charging £30 per person (not discounted for kids either) for a 2 hour trip which is bloody expensive (I am used to paying £60 for a full day wrecking). Anyone know of a boat going out of bude or the surrounding area which is more reasonably priced?
Cheers
Nope, wish I could help as looking for the same thing, used to go out from Boscastle with a bloke called Ken, 15 a head, for over an hour, can't remember if it was 2hrs but since he quit a year back it leaves a niche in the market waiting to be filled. Watching this thread with interest.
Edit: You can do an hour from Boscastle apparently with Boscastle Boat Trips, £15.
Boscastle is worth the trip from Bude, the coast is stunning there, sometimes see basking sharks, seals etc.
That's still bloody pricey... Reckon I'll end up going to padworth an hour away for a 2hr trip for £15 a head...
Thought about renting a sea kayak and mackerel lines? You can have as long a you want then?
Minivader is 6 and I have told him that until he can swim a length of the pool there will be no kayak... So boats are where it's at atm.... That said I nearly bought myself a sot last year. Still tempted apart from being about to uy a stanton.....
You are better off heading to padstow or another more commercial port, as there isn't a great deal of call for charter fishing round bude, most of the fishing is just a few guys out earning their crust.
Places like Padstow, Newquay etc are more geared up for tourists.
Although saying that, I'm sure if you head down to the lock gates and ask around you well get a cheaper deal as very few round here advertise.
Good luck and hope you have a great time down yer!
Can't wait... Will be staying at cerenity campsite... Love Cornwall, love camping and love the sea....
Sounds great! You'll like Cerenety even more now the refurbished Cafe is up and running, and the new Edwardian chic toilet block complete with sealife/mackerel mural*
*Hopefully will help entertain parents and their kids learning about the local marine foodchain - was my intent anyhoops 😉

£60!!, we paid £35 a head out of Hartlepool yesterday. Not wrecking but from 07.30-17.00, got Cod up to 8lbs, Ling up to 14lbs, Haddock up to about 4lbs, whiting of keepable size & about 150 Macky. (freezer now has a large amount of smoked mackarel pate' in it). Same guy charges £25 a head for a 4 hour evening Macky bashing trip.
Absolutely nowhere near Cornwall though. 😕
South coast prices I'm afraid... Poole charters are good but bloody pricey... And this was a couple of years ago with the fuel prices rocketing too.
