Well said TheLittlestHobo.

nedrapier referring to the x6 you said 'something that does nothing particularly well' then said 'I haven't driven one, they might be really nice for all I know' To me anything you said after those comments isn't worth reading.

That is exactly the same kind of attitude the car drivers who throw bottles at cyclists have. We are better than you. We dont belong to your inner circle so we will abuse you types. Absolute gimps the lot of you. I wish it had been some local druggy gangster who proceeded to get out and 'put a cap in yer ass'.

Are you saying an X6 is the kind of car that a drug dealer would drive?

Seriously, you have no right to complain when the next numptie takes a dislike to your wierd bike riding attire and throws a can of coke at you when he drives past in a puff of smoke.

That's assault, surely? Saying someone's car is a bit shit isn't quite the same.

I'm glad to see the silly distinction between banter and physical assault has finally been removed.

miketually - I am not saying anything of the sort. I was giving that example as if it had been that way i can pretty much guarentte our beloved hero would have gone from the big man he thinks he is to a trembling snivelling little oik. Ok, i will change it to "I wish it had been some 6ft6 doctor who has just heard that his wife and kids have died in a horrific car accident involving a cyclist and who is also a body builder with a black belt and ex marine" Is that ok??

Yes it is assault Mike. But the mindset is the same. If i choose to abuse someone verbally without provocation i dont think i have much of a moral highground if someone throws abuse my way. Just because my level of abuse is different from theirs.

You did actually read the OP?
You know the bit where they realised that the window was open?
I.e the banter wasn't intended to be heard by anyone else.

And that condones abusing someone that they know sod all about other than what car he drives?

It harks of school yard bullying imo.

I have said nasty things about people in cars before. I shall remember not to report any assaults I may receive.

Since when did banter with mates, about something that doesn't really matter, that is inadvertantly overheard, constitute abuse, assault or bullying?

Then i will not include you in my imaginary list of hypocrits off this site miketually. I await your report from your hospital bed when you are recovering from your assault where you find yourself being able to understand why those people kicked seven shades of poo outta you for no reason. They just didnt understand you 😉

Rumour has it the X6 driver might have been a gypsy, or welsh.
Or the littlest hobbo sells X6s for a living.

not the worst looking car i've ever seen

[img] [/img]

kinda in the same vein except coupe style

[img] [/img]

you like what you like at the end of the day, and i wouldn't mind being able to blow 50K on a car - to be fair on the driver, sounds like you were being a bunch of pretencious cocks, its all very easy to take the pi55 out of BMW drivers, next time try to be more original

(for arguments sake, i drive a ten year old volvo estate and couldn't give a prize **** what anyone thinks of that, it's drier than a bicycle)

My mind boggles.

Calling someone a fanny. Dissing something that is obviously something the owner cares about etc etc. Yes i do class it as verbal abuse/bullying.

What do you call it? Banter? Is racism therefore banter between friends if they all have the same opinion or only racism if someone of ethnic origin overhears it?

Just for the record, for future reference so to speak.
Could you confirm that you believe this driver was 'bullied' by these people, not that you think there could be formed some tenuous abstract argument about bullying, but that you believe he was genuinely bullied?

The Rover 200 sure is a fine looking car, I'd be willing to pay up £40k possibly up to £49k for one of those beauties, no more mind.

I think he was abused. He obviously wasnt happy at what they said so someone could deem it to be bullying. A group of people giving abuse to a single person.

Dobbo, rather than joke about the question try to answer it.

I just know if I went to deepest Surrey or Cheshire they'd be loads of X6. In your face, unpratical, shouty. Me I'd buy a 7 seater X5 in a heartbeat if my wife could lift a kids bike on top. 3l diesel engine does plenty to the gallon and goes like the clappers. Whats not to like.

An abstract person could deem it whatever they like, would you deem it bullying though?

get over it.

anyone who buys a car that looks that shit is doing so for the sole reason of saying "look at me, i've got loadsa money".

we used to go to some shit club up Epping Forest way when we were younger. our mate, Pissin Rich, would leave the club early and go and piss on the door handles of the most ostentatious looking cars. without a doubt he would have pissed on an X6.

A group of people were talking about an object, within earshot of the owner of the object. Without actually meaning for the owner to hear.

Abuse?

I asked if talking about someone behind someones back is ok even if it is a topic as bad as racism, ie would it be looked at in a different light. I didnt state that taking the piss outta someones car is as bad as racism.

A racist comment is racist because of the content of the comment. Bullying requires a subject. You can be racist in the abstract, there is simply no such thing as abstract bullying.

to be honest, we used to call him Richie Fingers for the most part on account of his inability to stop his fingers from shaking if someone was watching him skin up, but for effect, there i called him Pissin Rich.

'Pissin (hell) Rich' is what we'd say whilst he was shaking out the contents of a spliff out of a Rizla if we were watching him.

BMWs were one his favourites though.

I'd say it's exactly as bad, except for maybe being worse!

Does that mean the thread ends?

I do hope not.

And the driver responded with a V-sign. That is also abuse. In fact, it's a Public Order Act offence. Shall we ask the OP if he was traumatised by it, or if he wishes to report it to the police?

Group abuse individual because he is different to them. Individual hears abuse and reacts accordingly.

Sounds exactly the same as all the other bleeding hearts stories i hear on this site when people have been attacked or given verbal abuse by ferral kids whilst riding their bikes. Only difference is its the cyclists acting like the ferral kids.

Oh and its condoned by the group mentality here so that makes it ok.

Err no. The group's conversation was not intended to be overheard. By contrast the driver directly abused the group, and broke the law in the process. Seeing as you're so concerned about people's feelings, you should be asking the OP if he needs counselling.
