Ok, a new(to me!)car is in order.

I wouldn't mind an estate, but i'd still like a nice car!

Apart from the usual things has anyone had any problems with these?

General thoughts and/or input apreciated!

how old is it ?

I have a 10 plate diesel one - great car, not much boot space, crap in the snow and ice, superb rest of the time

I had a 04 320d touring. never had snow while I had it, and I put on 100k miles no problem.

great car, small boot, too expensive - but I did buy it at nearly new & it came with the full "service pack" so servicing up to 60k was free. residuals not as good as you might expect for a "premium" brand

Wont be a 10!

Looking at 2 02's.

One Blue 320 with leather.
One Black 318 with Cloth.

Not sure the extra 20cc is worth the emission/tax penalty, but i wouldn't mind the leather!

Prefer Black though 😕

mine is a company car and as it's very tax efficient makes a huge amount of sense. I doubt if I would buy one though....not that it can be faulted, just that it is very expensive compared to mondeo/octavia etc estates, which are probably just as good for at least 5K less - a new 318dSE on the road is over 27K, which is silly money

update - I took the 318 rather than the 320 as it was a few quid less a month in tax and unless you drive around in '330d' mode the performance is very adequate 😆

Well power isn't the main priority anymore.

I'd like reasonable mpg returns! a little poke would be nice though !

The boot will be bigger than a 156 saloon, the estate idea is to seperate children and muddy dog!

not very good economy with 3 bikes up top, mid 40's rest of time, into 50's on longer trips

Isn't the 320 a 2.2 6 cylinder engine compared with the 318 2.0 4 pot? The 2.0 4 cylinder BMWs are way underpowered. 2.2 6 flat six all the way IMO.

think GJP is right for the petrol ones.

I drove my brothers old 320 saloon for a bit about 6 yrs ago and think it was the 6 cyl version - very sprightly 😛
