I let my guard down and accidentally opened a reform dribble dabber.
And now i am grumpy. No one needs a picture of Nige gurning at them over lunch
Did it have the lovely black Labrador in the photo? I'd vote for that dog. I hope it eats his lunch.
My mild dyslexia keeps seeing the thread title as Body Form, and now I have the 90s advert song in my head.
Works well with the actual thread title though...
Whoaaaahhhh Bloodyyy Reform! Bloody Reform for yooooooou!
Did it have the lovely black Labrador in the photo? I'd vote for that dog. I hope it eats his lunch.
Nah only Malcolm Offord sharing a good honest handshake
My mild dyslexia keeps seeing the thread title as Body Form, and now I have the 90s advert song in my head
There's a thread about cycle tourers, but every time I see it I think it's about cycle trousers!!
But yeah, no one needs Farage, ever. I hope the dog eats his face!

Haha, I think exactly the same and go to accidently recommend 100% Airmatics until I realise it's tourers.

Got caught by that today too. Washed my hands thoroughly after opening it, not much I can do about my eyes though.

Q: What do Reform and Body Form products have in common?
A: Actually, best not to answer that. U will C what I Nearly did There, Sorry 🙂
Zia Yusuf is presently being interviewed on Five Live
I'm listening to it so you don't have to.
He's saying that everything will be better in this country if only schoolkids saluted a picture of the king every morning and learned all about Winston Churchill and the Battle of Trafalgar, as if it was 1954
He's a total ****ing muppet! It mystifies me that anyone could even contemplate voting for these clowns
I keep a lighter by the front door for this very reason.
Take flyer and set light to it in front of them. Then maintain eye contact as it burns.
It's worse than that here, we had some woman round canvasing for the disgusting scumbags. I told her I would rather chew my own head off and the woman up the road did talk to the hand. A lot of my neighbours are ethnicaly diverse and we all seem to get on and help each other when we can so hopefully they won't get many votes here.
Didn't Winston Churchhil go a bit OTT during the general strike thinking it was the start of the revolution and ride round in and armoured car?
Did it have the lovely black Labrador in the photo? I'd vote for that dog. I hope it eats his lunch.
A lot of black dogs around if reform get in.
I went to our hustings last night. The Reform candidate didn't go down well, unfortunately the Tory did, to be fair he could operate the microphone and had the gift of the gab which was more than could be said for some of the others. The SNP incumbent looked like he's been in power for too long.
Take flyer and set light to it in front of them. Then maintain eye contact as it burns.
Return it in an envelope using their Freepost address, supposedly costs them £2.50 each time.
Yes, I also read it as Bodyyyyyy Formmmm!
Sadly the only way we will see the back of them is after people have seen how disastrous theyll be in government
even then we will be faced with trump style alternate reality , if you only get news from Twitter, Youtube, facebook , GBNews or the Mail/Sun etc then the propaganda will keep you fired up , just look at half the country being obsessed with small boats

Add a breeze block for extra postage fees
Our local reform candidate might as well be the Invisible Man - no leaflets, no policy statements, photographs or indeed any on-line digital trace. I expect some fools will still vote for this man of mystery.
Didn't Winston Churchhil go a bit OTT during the general strike thinking it was the start of the revolution and ride round in and armoured car?
Not sure about that but he sent armed troops in to force people back to work down here. The bullets marks are still in evidence on some local buildings. There wasn't much sympathy offered at his death from parts of south Wales.

Was he not also responsible for the black and tans?
He certainly sent tanks in preparation to keep the protestors in george square in check (didn't deploy them but still)
He was also a mad ****ing racist and was problematic even at the time of the first world war i think? His own party making efforts to limit his position.
Its been a while since i tried to win that argument so the facts are a bit vague.
He'd probably fit right in at Nigels HQ down the pub.

You just know that Farage wants to do that more than anything else in the world!
I’m still trying to fathom out why Reform think we would all benefit from knowing more about the Battle of Trafalgar? 🤷♂️
I was told about the free post fee, what if we all bought a few packs of envelopes and just sent them empty envelopes?
I've had two farage flyers, one I used as a firelighter and watched the picture of his smug face as the flames licked round it.
Churchill was dumped and socialists elected.

I occasionally peek into GB News and I always check out the next day's newspaper headlines on the Beeb.
Add in toxic multimedia and that explains why, as you say, a part of the country seems absolutely obsessed with small boats to the exception of everything else. Add in a hatred for anyone on benefits as the cherry on top.
The coming GE or next, we are going to have our own Trump moment and I'm not liking forward to it. At all.
Add in a hatred for anyone on benefits as the cherry on top
if, god forbid, we do end up with a Reform government, the one redeeming feature will be watching the amount of cross-eyed, tattoo-necked, six-toed ****-wits who voted for them getting a rude awakening when they stop their benefits
Channel 4 news did a vox pop thing a few months ago from some shithole in the north east and interviewed a selection of unemployable layabouts, sat out the front of their houses, drinking cans of Stella at lunchtime, midweek. They all said they were going to vote for Reform, because small boats.
It’d almost be worth putting up with Farage to see the looks on their credulous, dimwitted faces as the penny slowly drops that Reform are on about stopping ALL benefits, not just the ones that go to asylum seekers
Was he not also responsible for the black and tans?
Sadly not, though it pains me to say it, but Lloyd George has to carry (some of) the can for them! He was also PM when the Irish Free State was created in 1922.

But churchill specifically as secretary of state actually sent them in.
Sadly the only way we will see the back of them is after people have seen how disastrous theyll be in government
A semi-regular conversation on our local social media:
"The state of the roads round here, with all the potholes, what do you expect from a bloody Labour council. Vote Reform!"
"Actually, the county council is responsible for road maintenance, and that already is Reform."
radio silence
But yeah, no one needs Farage, ever.
Well, I’d give him a job cleaning the public toilets - it’s what he’s best suited for.
Take flyer and set light to it in front of them. Then maintain eye contact as it burns.

Now that’s a suggestion I hadn’t thought of! I’ll make a note of that little wheeze and do it to the Conservative candidate, as well as the Reform. Thanks for that! 😁👏🏻

Maybe that happens, and they'll still have a vote and we'll all still be affected by the outcome of that and those who manipulate it.
Or maybe one day, those with decent careers and education will stop looking down on the unemployed as layabouts living in shitholes and realise that the reason we're lurching towards populist conmen like Farage is that a high proportion of our society have F all opportunities and haven't done for a couple of generations. Whole areas sidelined, not much hope left. Conservatives did F all for them, Labour did F all for them. What do we expect when they kick back? Many of them now think F you, I'll vote for someone who might drag us all down, as a way to hit back against a society that's not offered them much and a swathe of people who think it's their fault. There is a lack of awareness of potential self-harm but maybe you and I don't understand how bad it already is?
Those Stella drinkers are not the cause of a benefits drain or the resentment and fear that gets lumped into 'racist!' accusations. Sure, critical thinking over economics, immigration and social issues is lacking, it's lacking across our entire society - there's people with big pension pots and nice houses that don't get it from other angles. Brexit came from that lack of thinking and nothing's changed since because too many keep blaming the people who are, to a significant extent at least, a symptom of society's failings. A society that serves us ok thanks, but we also have a vote that can change things and we're part of it, we keep useless centrists or make-me-richer Tories in power.
Just like my opportunities in a life that has been ok were largely good luck, their lack of opportunity was largely bad luck. If I'd had their life I'd be there on the sofa drinking Stella, at least for a while. When we stop playing this class/intelligence blame game we might get somewhere.
Calling them stupid layabouts makes you as much part of the class and ignorance problem as you think they are, to be frank - you'll never beat populism from superiority and mocking the people the populists recruit, because that division is what Farage is building on.

The only redeeming feature of all the polls saying that Reform are going to win the next election, is that their 'support' comes in large part from folks like this. Folks like this don't vote, and mostly never have.
Here's a thought experiment I heard, one for those who Farage might call the Islington Elite or something like that for looking down on the mid-day Stella drinkers in poor areas -
"What experiences would I have to have lived through to have the views that you have?"
Very few of our views are our own independent thoughts, we soak them up from those around us and they're shaped by our circumstances. Take the person into a different time and place and they'll develop different views. A lack of opportunity, travel, cultural exposure (i.e. poverty) and so on means views narrow and distort. We might agree that no-one's views are entirely wrong because they're mainly a product of circumstance and experience, and they're never rigid.
So what conditions need to change to reduce the thinking that Farage and his sort manipulate? You can be sure Farage will never give his core voters real hope and opportunity because then they might see through the scam. He will carry on playing the blame game (foreigners, immigrants, the 'elite' and the sneering middle class) while keeping as many people down as possible. And while they're down he has a core vote base.
There is a lack of awareness of potential self-harm but maybe you and I don't understand how bad it already is?
If, as a turkey, you lack the critical thinking skills to fathom out that voting for Christmas may not be in your best interests, then you can't expect an awful lot of sympathy.
Particularly when the same charlatan now promising you he has had all the answers also sold you the same BS 10 years ago and how's that worked out for you? He doesn't talk about that any more though, because it's been an unmitigated disaster for most of us, but him and his grifting mates have done very nicely out of it.
Whats that saying about repeating the same exercise and expecting different results?
Fool me once....
The only redeeming feature of all the polls saying that Reform are going to win the next election, is that their 'support' comes in large part from folks like this. Folks like this don't vote, and mostly never have.
They didn't vote for the reds or blues or greens who do F all for them anyway but they will vote this time.
'Change happens slowly, then very fast'.
I hope they won't win but I have a couple of tenner bets with mates, I bet they will win. Unfortunately. I bet that way because I see complacency everywhere and it'll take a shock to get people out of it.
So it is their own fault that they don't have the critical thinking skills you think they should have. It is again just luck that you ended up with critical thinking skills and they didn't, luck that you ended up in a good position and they didn't.
Do you realise how tory you sounding on this?
They didn't vote for the reds or blues or greens who do F all for them anyway but they will vote this time.
If you look at the respective parties policies I'd say that the Green Party has considerably more to offer them than Nige (or anyone else), but you know... they have pink hair and that Polanski blokes got funny teeth
Got a Reform flyer through the door the other day. Turns out that the local candidate is one of my neighbours. Our kids used to play together. We certainly aren't close, and haven't spoken that much, but in all of the conversations I've had with her over the years, she did not give me the impression of being gullible/ignorant/racist, or interested in politics at all, for that matter. I think more than anything, it just made me feel sad and disappointed that someone I knew was a Reform candidate.
I hope they won't win but I have a couple of tenner bets with mates, I bet they will win. Unfortunately. I bet that way because I see complacency everywhere and it'll take a shock to get people out of it.
It's not complacency, it's anger that the public discourse has had logic and truth utterly stripped from it. That's not my doing, it's not my indifference to it, it's not yours or anyone else's - it's a deliberate, long-term shift in media and political speech towards promoting right-wing themes, selling an absolute mountain of bullshit that the way to fix our lives, the reason everyone's so poor is f***-all to do with the Tories spending 14 years burning public services to the ground, we need to blame foreigners and some nebulous, undefined concept of "the elite".
In many ways, as with Brexit, I can't blame all* the people that support it, they've just been sold a lie so hard that it hurts. Even the BBC breakfast news ran a story this week from their chief political correspondant using the Reform logo, in Reform colours, stating Reform policy, without any other party logo or BBC graphics as a background, without any criticism or counterpoint to that policy. I used to complain to the BBC every time I heard them use "illegal migrants" - what a ****ing waste of time that was....
* some of them I definitely can, but not all.
Blaming appearances or left/right division is too easy and a mistake. Appearances say 'you're like me' or not. It's about whether people are heard or have anything relevant to say.
The Greens don't communicate with them like you can't talk to them - so it doesn't matter what they offer or whether it's right and reform are wrong, it's not being heard. 'Seek first to understand before being understood', etc.
Politics is more about basic marketing skills now than ever. 'Green' branding fails before it's even started.
So it is their own fault that they don't have the critical thinking skills you think they should have. It is again just luck that you ended up with critical thinking skills and they didn't, luck that you ended up in a good position and they didn't.
Do you realise how tory you sounding on this?
God damn it. I was literally about to point out "how very nige of you"
Its like the opposite of someone who claims to be a labour supporter 🤣
@pondo, I agree - when I say complacency I mean the attitude of those voters and those in power and influence who claim to be better than the Tories but continue to look down on people or blame them for failing to do the right thing in supporting them. Labour continue to be useless red Tories who can't communicate well and so many continue to support them while blaming 'the stupid' for voting to burn it all down (or vote for hope whether it's justified/realistic or not). It's a complacent attitude to doing anything to solve the problems of others that in turn make things better for us all by undermining the tools of the populists.
Farage gets an easy ride because his opposition is both split and weak, it offers nothing that stands out and it couldn't communicate it even if it had it.
