In fact all of the vids do my head in, but the boat one always catches me out cos its nowt to do with bikes.

For some reason the whole sequence reminds me of Match of the Day???

In fact, one third of this website is adverts - when you take into account that almost half of the RHS of the screen is adverts and almost 1/4 of the LHS is blank space

i like the charge ads, and the ads in general can use them instead of clogging up my bookmaarks bar.

Every time I see it I'm slightly less likely to buy a charge.

Agreed the charge advert has left me mentally scarred....Man wins bike at fairground, morphs into grey haired "dude" on speedboat, woman rides slowly arond bend, man runs 1 metre sprint jog racey thing and wins by default, repeat for the next three years.....

I'd never dare click on the add as it would probably turn me into a dribbling mess unable to complete basic tasks....oh wait it may be too late for that anyway. 😐

I hadn't even noticed.

Why don't you do what I do and not bother looking ? Just a thought like 😕

Its one of those that creeps up out of the corner of your eye. Maybe if I 'ignore' it long enough I won't notice it - but if everyone does that whats the point in adverstising?

I figure that most people that use this site won't see the advert and suddenly think they want to buy one, they'll buy it on the strength of what their friends / people on the forum who have used / owned one can comment on.

Ergo advertising on an internet forum is pointless - its one of the places where 'word of mouth' proliferates.

Well you've done plenty of spreading 'the word'. I've looked at the Charge advert now, but only because you mentioned it.

All I've got to decide next, is whether I want a Charge frame.

Maybe you'll get a free speedboat with every purchase?

I don't mind it personally. I think it's a brave attempt given the overwhelming sameness of most MTB advertising.

Sorry this sounds a bit earnest, but more importantly, and if you know anyone that works in the media they will back this up, websites like this are paid for (or more often, only subsidised and run at a loss) by advertising, and without that permanent RHS ad, STW would be less able to put on this big fat conversation that we all seem drawn to. So I welcome it, given the advice and connections I've had from here for zero investment!

One advantage to perusing this site on my phone is when I zoom in to read posts the ads disappear off the edge of the screen. However, I frequently tap on the Chain Reaction one by accident when scrolling and trigger it into bringing up a new page, which can be a bit of a pain. 😕
