Well, half way through my 11m run I thought I would pop my shoes off and run barefoot for a bit. After promptly smacking my toe on something harder than a toe, I now have a blood blister on the bottom of my middle toe. This is the first blood blister I have had so went on the interweb to see what the best course of action would be. Opinion seems to be split between pop it or leave it. As usual I will give the last word to STW, with the only caveat being I would like to keep the foot and ideally be able to do Woburn tomorrow.
Pop or leave? ....and if pop how and what follow up?
I thought I would pop my shoes off and run barefoot for a bit
why? 😕
Man up and pop it
Pop it! If you can reach it bite it if not lance it with something appropriate
If you don't want it to come back make sure you rip off all possible skin
I've had a few blood blisters on the bottom of my toes from bf running this year, many from still toeing off in running style apparently, which seems an easy thing to do up hill. I've just left them as they aren't causing me any problems, but they're not ones that are really proud of the surround flesh. If it was a big sticky up one I'd be inclined to pop it. Having said that I did have a sticky out one earlier in the year that popped when a bit of grit got lodged in it. Only noticed when it got a bit infected, so what ever you do keep an eye on them 🙂

is running barefoot the singlespeed of running? I don't get it.
His gone all Zola Budd the dirty hippy.
Can I just recommend you don't apply the same barefoot thing when you're on your climbing date 🙂
why?
Because.

Yes and then you never will.

I have an aversion to hippies so its not that bad.
@IanMunro
Cheers for the advice. After 6 months with my F-Lites 230s i thought i was ready to go bf....and it was on a grassy/muddy track. Back to the drawing board temporarily.

I genuinely lol'd.
leave it, blood blisters are great for picking, much better than scabs.... have you seen the five finger thing? i'm tempted but need to lose some weight running normally first.
it was on a grassy/muddy track
That makes sense(ish), my first thought was that you decided to run along the road barefoot 🙄
I do like those Vibrams, but they are an awful lot of money for what they are. At the moment just running in the most lightweight things i could get on the cheap...well £46, but that is still about £35 at least cheaper than Vibram KSOs.
Oh..and it looks like this blister fans:
How'd you get nicotine stains on your feet dude?
Ouch...looks like whatever caused, it was a bit of a stinger at the time though 😯
Y'know, the soles of my feet have always been a bit yellow-ish. Feet have not fallen off yet so assume its nothing serious.
Well it's popped via red hot needle. Boshed a plaster on it and will hope for the best.
