Did the council guy say in what sense are they on a par? Lifestyle? Shopping? Concrete volume per sqm? What?

It's up to you Birmingham, Birmingham does not have a good ring to it.

Population ?
Crime rate ?
Average speed of traffic during rush hour ?
Popularity as a tourist destination ?

I need some more information before I decide how outraged to be.

Damn it.

It cost a fortune to go to NY last year, we could have just popped up to Birmingham.

Why wasn't this common knowledge?

If he meant in terms of places that I least want to visit, then yes, I agree.

Where in Brum is its equivalent of Bleecker Street or Williamsburg or the High Line? Let me know and I'll be over.

Reminds me of a strapline I saw for Rhyl a few years back:

"Rhyl, a world-class resort"

Birmingham, Birmingham... so good they named it twice...

Escape from Birmingham.

But Brum does have more canals than Venice.

There's a warehouse in Sutton Coldfield which has more paint in it than the Sistene Chappel.
It's not really about quantity is it?
