Ah, the dรฉja vu ride

Indeed! I'm sure Woburn is a nice place to ride, if only I'd seen more than one trail ๐Ÿ˜‰

I remember the days of Pete36, Kato etc... epic battles/trolling

Kato's on here isn't he? Assume it's the same one anyway! Don't get the impression Pete does any cycling these days from FaceyB.

Whilst I really liked the unmoderated nature of it, I think as people drifted away and it became more of a cliquey place it was always going to be the master of it's own demise. That worked fine when there were hundreds of active members, but I remember the reaction to new people often being downright hostile. Unsurprising that once traffic slowed and newbies were put off that it died somewhat.

It started to get out of hand a bit. People threatening to go round houses and cave peoples faces in. Wasn't Kato threatened?

Some seriously funny stuff on there though with some genuinely funny people (and some who thought they were funny but weren't)

Yeah pete is on here and posts every now and then. Just got a bike after 5-6 years off. I was just always gutted his bikes were too small for me, some proper bargains with his weekly frame swaps - makes Hora seem like an amateur.

Last I was on there was 2002 (over 10 years ago!) and then moved over here and never went back. Always seems a shame that it died after its heyday but a few of us still keep in occassional touch and there is actually a 'secret' forum run by milo_bloom which has a lot of the old BM crowd though a quick check shows it's pretty quiet there too.

Dead bike ride, anyone?

Bloody hell *pulls up chair*

Where does Arnold Brocklethwaite Jones begin, what a tool!

ChunkyMTB thanks for the update via FB.

Just back on the bike in the last few months and it feels good.

Life enriching experiences like, loosing the family business, loosing my house, not seeing my eldest daughter for two years. Being in family court more times that I have been on wiggle are all life enriching experiences.

7 years I will put behind me. Some of the great folk I rode with on BM keep in touch and some are coming to NI for the Giro.

I have matured a wee bit but giggle and have fond memories of the BM/STW/fotopic nonsense.

I think fotopic went tits up too! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Dylan was a legend, so was Kato.

So was the bloke who launched a verbal attack on me one day at the Peaks circa 2006. Think he was called Wayne?

Some great folk on Mlehworld too

*wipes tear from eye*

Hope you are all well.

Hans Frii perchance?

Is Mike Spence on here? He seems to be one of the few prolific posters from 'over there' who's not on here, as they're all coming out of the woodwork now!

I-J! Aaaah, yes.

I don't miss Ti29er though, strange fellow.

Now that was funny! He was certainly on here for a while after.

What is it with you & photographers eh?

Oh, and Mr Spence doesn't frequent the virtual world these days. In fact, last time I saw him he was barely riding bikes but spending time 'running' (whatever that is)instead.

Like Clubber I think I last went there about 2003/4 lt was always massively clique-y, much worse than even ST was, and ST had just the one forum back then.

After I got my "threatening letter" from 42 it was never the same again.

Thanks for that. But...does it *, you cheeky *! When have I ever been anything but courteous on arranged rides? You've been listening to Mr. Spence a little too much, methinks. Besides, I've only ever walked in the Peaks and that was long before the internet was born.

It properly died when they broke the forum, circa 2011 - only the fools returned after that. Most are now here and TBH, this place is far more active, you get proper answers to your questions (even thought there's shit to sift through) and some of the folk are just as funny, but in a different way. There's still a clique on this forum but there's enough traffic to dwarf it for the most part. That's a Good Thing...

njee20 is Nick "the photographer hater"?

When we did the Afan ride I was camping because I was there a couple more nights than everyone else who had hired a house for the weekend, Sunday night was just myself and ti29er left and he suggested I joined him in the house, I decided it would be better for my mental health and his safety if I stayed in my tent.

Is BHB on here?

I met a few for a ride once over cut gate, 2004/5 I think it was. Met Dylan (exactly how he was online) I didn't know much about him at that stage. Also met Shindiggy and quite a few others, forum names of which now forgotten. Dated one of the girls from that ride for a little while after too.

I still pop in for a browse from time to time, but haven't posted for ages.
It went down hill as already said, with the issues and change to the latest format.
I always thought of it like being with mates down the pub but if I wanted a sensible answer would post over here.

And this site has some proper characters as well, and just like across the road the mouthy one's that I have met are not the same in real life.

Nah, that's Mike Spence.

Ti29er was a professional photographer who enjoyed telling everyone within earshot about just about anything he'd done. He also specialised in a certain type of 'male' photography...

I was around on BM about the same time as NickC. Chiltern 1XV crowd if I remember rightly. I recognise a few names off here. Met some good people form that forum. Not been back for years. It was a fun time but I wasted so much time on there. When I joined the 'BM Big Hitters' as I suppose STW'd call them were Dave White and his mate. Brant was of course editor for a while as well.

Ah it all seems so long ago....

Kato's on here isn't he?

I am. It's a shame BM died a death. I could say I left because they kept changing the format, but truth is it got to the point where I'd just log on to wind Dylan up. When he got a perma ban and John G went a bit wibble I had no one left to play with.

Mrovershoot ya got me? I can't log in to my old account.WHO ARE YOU? Funny but the last message I recieved on bm was from the Tim ti29er himself. It was enough to put the final nail in the coffin of my time on bm.
Yup sadbloke is a good bloke, went for a ride with him and Jen J. She on here?
Who on either forum can forget the Hamish IWH debacle.

Caffeinoldbean - I live not far from your last UK home I too had a Ti29er message, though I think it was a flounce about Dylan.
My BM name is Nigel Hancock.

For me the star of many surreal threads was always Numpty.
