Good grief, I go away to do a nightshift and it all kicks off.

Anyone care to give me a summary of the previous pages?

I'd guess (cos I only got as far as my own comment on the first page)
-some people care
-some people don't
-a bit of arguing
-some bollocks

Interesting development no?
Have to say I'm a teej fan, his opinions and style I appreciated, didn't agree with him on most things but then thank god this is (was) a free country.
I miss elfin.

Can appreciate the mods trying to clean this place up, but think its becoming too sanitised.

Oh well.

I'm disappointed that he's gone and no longer able to announce his Highland camping trips.

I will now have to rely on luck if I am to be exercising my picnic loving dogs off the lead near his wild camping spots late at night.

Boo Hiss

Frankly this forum got worse when the Mleh lot departed, and progressively degraded as the Freds et al disappeared too. Totally accept the principle of "its my ball and I'm going home", but if TJ's offences are life time bannnings most forum in the world would have tumbleweed rolling through them.

As I said, if a particular poster ends up taking a disproportionate amount of the mods' (limited) time then I don't see it as unreasonable behaviour to try and stop that problem using bans. It is a shame it comes to that though.

I've often considered setting up a new forum with a 'no being a ****' rule and pretty much anything else goes but I suspect that it's not as simple as it appears, particularly to maintain or even to maintain the positives of this forum. Not to mention that you'd probably just end up with all the banned people from here on it while everyone else stuck on STW.

I think it might be for the best TBH - he clearly gets very wound up/angry about stuff on here.

There are though several consistently unpleasant characters who remain unbanned, who delighted in what is essentially bullying. I hope you're proud of yourselves.

Thought they'd all dragged themselves back one by one.

@clubber, you'd have to automatically exclude yourself from your forum. 😛

There are people on this forum who I've found downright rude, and TJ isn't one of them. It's a shame, I think.

Well I do find stoner's view about money being more important than people very disturbing and not nice at all. Should I be banned for having a different opinion?
To be honest this forum is really going toward "bnpness". I had to report a post 3 times with a formal e-mail to get it banned for xenophobia. This kind of post wouldn't have happened when elf and TJ were here.

I often wonder if the internet, particularly internet forums, have had a detrimental affect on peoples ability to communicate in real life situations. I'm sure that nobody on here would talk to others face-to-face in the same manner they do on here. But I would love to see some of the people on here try, just to see the physical outcome.

I argued a lot with Teej and I didnt much like being called racist by him but at heart he's a good bloke. Clearly couldnt let go of an argument, and knows it, but couldnt stop himself.

I hope he's allowed back, place will be worse without him. Fred however was a thoroughly nasty piece of work who we are well rid of.

Juan makes a good point. I always thought it would be a good idea to make both TJ and the elf moderators. Sounds crazy to start with but I actually think they'd both have been pretty even handed.

I find your complete failure to pay attention very disturbing. Stoner is the poster boy for work/life balance.

I think this just shows that it can be quite dangerous to form an opinion on someone when you only focus on certain elements of that person.

Whilst I don't really agree it is interesting that of all the people who do persistently argue, often unpleasantly, it's only two 'left-wing' posters that have had the perma-ban.

I'm sure someone will suggest that's because the lefties are so belligerent etc but as above, there are some pretty unpleasant characters on here who remain unbanned.

.....he clearly gets very wound up/angry about stuff on here.

Actually he doesn't, and that's more than half the issue - TJ's more "out there" posts were for his own amusement/entertainment and he was indulging in some sort of tightrope walking game with the moderation policy....

..he's gone, meh

🙄 (TJ tribute eyerolly thing)

Given the moderation is mostly reactive maybe right-wing people are more likely to complain about left-wing ones than the other way around?

A few more lefties snitching to the mods might restore the balance?

Can someone just clear this up, because it's not entirely obvious.

Are you really trying to say that the moderation and/or reporting here is somehow driven by politics?

Genius! That's my top chuckle of the morning! 🙂

Y Darc, I think we should rename the glitch as BumpyTeeJGlitch, a fitting tribute.... ;-)*

*Edit - Oooh, Y Darc's comment was deleted! Another clear case of the political bias inherent in the system! Etc... 😉

To be fair, there was a pretty nasty tone to his comments. It's quite ironic because I have the suspicion TJ comes from "money". Raised in a pretty affluent suburb of Glasgow, and a few comments he's dropped here and there make me suspect his parents are/were wealthy. His lefty stance seems at odds with that. Self loather?

I've not read all this, but:

I can't believe that he's been banned (and has ben banned in the past) for arguing. It takes two (or more) people for an argument, so why aren't the folks he's arguing with banned too?

If he can't let a point go, it's because others don't either. Like any pub/work/internet bore, the best thing to do is ignore them when they start banging on past the point where anyone cares.

TJ can be an opinionated tool, but he's not vindictive or wilfully antagonistic. There are other opinionated, vindictive and wilfully antagonistic tools on here who remain ban-free. TJ's ban is ridiculous.

*awaits ban*

Zulu-Eleven for one - does nothing but troll political threads and attempt to needle TJ as far as I can see.

Has he ever posted one single thing about mountain biking btw?
