MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Hi, I need some kind of bracket to hold open the single door of our 4 door system. 3 of the doors open to the right and these stay where they are. However on the left we have a single door that opens outwards and has a habit of swinging open / closed. I was thinking of getting a large cabin hook to attach it to the wall with but am reluctant to screw things in to my nice new aluminium frames.
I'm after some kind of latch that fits on the wall and can grip the bottom of the door and hold it open without having to attach anything to the door itself.
Any ideas?
Having had a similar issue previously, the best we could get was a sticky magnet / catch from these guys.

You could get some colour match paint to hide the magnet if you're worried about the look from outside.
You could also try a gravity catch, but I would think that has more potential to damage the door.

Wedge?
Wedge?
"Look at the size of that thing!"
"Good shot Janson"
Thanks Jim, those magnetic ones look like they'll do the trick, are the magnets very strong as the door is on the prevaling wind side.
A hybrid of those doorstops and the gravity catch was something I had in mind, but don't seem to exist.
Perchy - a wedge won't work as the doors are higher than the ground

The magnets are very strong - they even send you loads of warnings about not getting your fingers between them etc.
Edit: If it's still an issue, you could put a stop at top & bottom of the door
I've just fitted some friction door restrictors onto my patio doors so they can be left in any position.
Got them from Screwfix
Note that the picture is wrong but they fit into the Euro groove on the door and frame.
We have exactly the same problem and we stop the open door swinging by attaching a bungee to the handle. It's better to open panel 2 fully and latch that right back against panel 3 then close panel 1.
The second problem is that of solar gain during summer; our kitchen gets up to around 30c. We have roller blinds but if you open a door they flap around in the breeze and are slowly destroying themselves. We won't have bifold doors again; we will go for sliding doors next time. I can see that bifolds might be an attactive way of opening an indoor space to an outdoor space like a summer room or veranda but they are a pain in an exposed location.
