My lad has a load of Lego, it's always been stored in plastic tubs (so we have a tub of black bits, a tub of red bits etc)
Probably about 6-700 bits in each box, then a load of figures and sparkly bits.
List each bit on ebay? Anywhere they buy job lots?
(he wants some Adidas Hi Tops!)
If you have access to an NCT sale nearby, then it sells well in those.
I'd be interested... email in profile.
Don't.
One of my biggest regrets in life is parting with my Lego. If he's "too old" for it now, put it in storage. When he's stopped being a stroppy teen he'll no longer be too old for it and want it back.
Trust your Uncle Cougar on this.
keep it, I still have mine from when I was a kid.
it will come in handy.
after WWIII, the world will be rebuilt with Lego.
you heard it here first.
How much you want for it?
Ill open the bidding at £20 😉
Thing is, he never played with it when he was younger. He made the sets (lots of Lego City IIRC) then broke them up and put them away.
His mates have cool trainers...he has Lego!
£21.34
Sold various bits of lego on e-bay and it's worked out well. One lot was sold as a job lot (TV sized cardboard box full) with a BIN - awesome. We've also sold smaller amounts by weight in food bags. Suggest you take out any people (mini-figs) and sell separately and if you have any specific sets or specific collections (Star Wars, Harry Potter) then sell separately.
Buy your son some cool trainers and keep the Lego.
£19 and I'll go no lower.
£24.75
Don't part with it...I regret parting with mine. I'd be tempted to go as high as £25.03. But then I'd be taking Lego away from your lad...
Im bidding for [s]me[/s] my son.
Im bidding for my son.
How much do you want for him?
I'd be tempted to go as high as £25.03. But then I'd be taking Lego away from your lad...
I'll beat every sensible price anyone offers, on the promise that the selling price when he wants it back is another 50%.
Right - here it is!

I guess its pick up only eh? 😉
Where are you?
Sunny DY6...
even better, not millions of miles away 🙂
To be fair, your best bet is going to be eBay, but give us a nod when you list it.
wish i still had all my lego
I did suggest that I make a pair of trainers out of Lego...I got the look reserved for stupid parents.
I'll start counting and cataloging, cheers all!
Stoner, I'll let you know if I decide to go for the easy giveaway option on STW!
okay - you need to sort out all the technic from the standard blocks, fish out the megablocks and incinerate them and get over sorting it by colour.
Under no account swap all your technic for a vintage skateboard.
Twenty quid for people and accessories?
This would seriously sort my wife's birthday present.
Why the heck do you have so much of it if he never bothered with it? You should've just given in & bought him a barbie!
have you got a flat black bit that's three dots long?
You can get between £5 - 10 a kg on fleabay depending how you mix it up, and some random factor I don't yet understand.
I'm gonna guess you have 7.56kgs.
This will be time consuming.sc-xc - Member
Probably about 6-700 bits in each box...List each bit on ebay?
Lego nerd coming out of the closet here. 😆 and 😳
Lego sells for silly money on ebay. Plenty of other great ways to buy it on the internet, but to sell it I would go for ebay for maximum yield.
If your lad is time rich/money poor, he should have the time and inclination to reasemble complete sets for you/him to list on ebay separately. You can find an inventory and instructions for pretty much every lego set ever on or through this awesome nerdopolis of a website:
www.bricklink.com
...and if you supply ebay buyers with a link to online instructions then you don't need to sell the sets with instructions for people to be interested.
Believe it or not just the paper instructions also sell well for some sets, so if you can't assmble complete sets with the instructions you have, sell the instructions separately too. Dunno why when it's all online these days, but they still sell!
Then sell the bases as one or two lots, and the minifigures as another job lot.
Then split into lots of roundabout half a kilo so you can post them, take one big photo and a couple of detailed photos with the most interesting bits. Honestly, it's worth the extra few pence in listing fees to do this as lego nerds will bid silly money if there are a few choice pieces in there. You might as well do these lots by colour since they are already sorted that way. Do combined postage on your listings and you might find that someone snipes in the last seconds and buys the whole lot, but you will get far more interest and higher sale prices if you are willing to post it.
Oh also get you lad to mercilessly weed out the megabloks and sell them as a separate lot. Lego fans are a bit funny about finding megabloks in their ebay purchases. On lego fan forums this is a transgression frowned upon even more severely than risers with bar ends, leaving your reflectors on and those red-walled panaracer tyres 😉 . Don't expect nearly as much for the megabloks either.
Happy sales 😀
When he's stopped being a stroppy teen he'll no longer be too old for it and want it back.
Hopefully there'll be a space on my bullying roster by this point.
Car boot it all?
We did one last year, took all the lego we had and did a pic your own £1 per cup, (might get quite a bit more for yours mind)
Ours was pretty grotty tbh, nothing like the quality you are trying to sell, but we cleared £150 selling it that way & had a great time selling it too.
Funny thing thing was it was mostly parents and grandparents buying ours.
I had similar. I thought it was in my parents' attic but couldn't find it recently when looking as my son's old enough for it now. Hope it hasn't been dumped 😯
Can I have those two Duplo sharks please? £10+pp?
wish i had never sold my space lego
That's ace. I think I had pretty much all of the Classic Space sets, just been looking at that image playing 'spot the ship'.
Keep it.
One day your kids might have kids.
My parents kept a load of mine & it's now back in use by my kids and nephews when they visit 🙂
They sold all my Hornby train sets though 🙁
But, there's still a Scalextric in their loft 🙂
I'm impressed yet slightly puzzled by the colour-coded sorting-into-boxes.
Was this nirvana achieved only once your lad was too old to care about Lego and you/your wife did it?
I can't believe that a child would put it away so fastidiously. In our house, each tidyer takes a smaller base in each hand and scoops up as much as possible to deposit in the (one) big plastic box. Repeat until its mostly done. A small child is then needed to surreptitiously kick the remaining pieces under the sofa where they shall remain until more than four adult visitors are due and Mrs Tyred deems an under-the-sofa hoovering is required. Depending on the recent behaviour of the children/tiredness of the parents, the concealed pieces will either be painstakingly returned to the box or go on a great Dyson adventure, never to return.
Surely hunting through a massive, totally random pile for a specific piece in a specific colour is part of the fun?
If you have storage space, I'd definitely keep it all if I were you. My kids are always utterly delighted when their grandparents produce old toys from the loft.
If you want maximum yield for the Lego, then as mentioned on here, either build the sets up and sell them seperately on Bricklink, check the inventory on Peeron and be prepared to ship worldwide. I have sold a few Technical Lego sets recently, shipped to Hong Kong for more than I bought it for! I recently bought a job lot of Lego from a guy at work. His son wanted a PS3 game. I gave him his asking price of £50 (I didn't barter when I saw how much there was), I checked one of the sets average asking prices on Bricklink/Ebay, nothing less than £90! And that was just one set, there were at least another 2-3 sets in there that fetched that much. Most of it is still in the loft, being piece mealed out for my boys for the last Xmas and several more to come...
Best way to sell Lego?
Brick by brick?
I'm sure i've still got a small piece of lego stuck up my nose
Never had hayfever either could be linked ... 😯
Hi I would be interested - PM Coming Thanks Liam
Is there any way I can contact you? If not send a message to hentonliam@gmail.com thanks
I'm very interested too, particularly in any technic or lego city kits, let me know!
Ka-boom! Thread resurrection! If the OP is still about, can I ask how did you end up selling it? Just found a couple of boxes in my parents loft......
