Morning All,

Apologies for the enormous tedium however but where is the best value place online to get some LED bulbs for indoors please. Not looking for anything fancy, a pair of warm white BC22 25w candle bulbs for the sconce lights in the front room and a cool white EC27 60w bulb for the bathroom. Have narrowed my options down to Philips from www.discounthomelighting.co.uk or Omniplus from www.wholesaleledlights.co.uk.

Yours in procrastination...

I bought all mine from Wilco’s, theirs seem to be as cheap as anyone’s, and none have died yet, although none are more than a couple of years old.

I always find that LEDHut have been very good value (not always the cheapest though) and really good quality.

A massive range and a pack of Haribo with every purchase, what's not to like?

I've bought LED lights from other sources but none have lasted like the ones from LEDHut.

Another vote for screwfix, especially their boxes of ten LED spots.

Ikea for £1 each. All working fine so far. Though not the brightest. Some brighter models for a few quid.

For comparing brightness, check the lumens rating. Not what watts it claims to be equivalent to.

Thanks for the replies all 🙂

Have checked my local Screwfix and no dice and don't have an Ikea that's within an hours drive. That said I am venturing near a B&Q this morning so will have a browse.

Good tip for checking the lumens rather than watts, will bear that in mind.

Wasn't aware of LEDhut so will check them out too.

I've used Megaman LEDs before now and they have been faultless for over 7 years. House we have recently moved to has cheap ones and some have already gone.

I've also bought some Screwfix bulk ones and they are ok the light quality isn't as good as the Megaman ones and the lenses are different so the light is more harsh, but then they are probably a 1/5 the price.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

One light that’s really worth replacing with LED is any fluorescent tube ceiling light, like you find in most kitchens. I replaced mine eighteen months or so, maybe two years ago with one, and it’s so much better than the old tube, it lights instantly, the light hasn’t got that ghastly greenish tint, and it doesn’t perceptively flicker. I think mine cost £9.99, from Wilco’s.
